OVERVIEW
Instacart is seeking a talented Intellectual Property Manager and administrator to join our team. This person will have the unique opportunity to work with an experienced IP team and support Instacart in developing a world-class intellectual property portfolio. You must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize a dynamic and varied workload, and possess excellent judgment. You’ll also need to be proactive and engaged, able to work well cross-functionally both internally and externally, excited about technology and e-commerce, and ready to roll up your sleeves and dig into tough problems!
ABOUT THE JOB
- Perform patent docketing and track patent prosecution deadlines
- Prepare reports on Instacart’s patent, copyright, and trademark portfolio
- Coordinate with IP team and inventors in preparing and filing patent/trademark/copyright applications
- Manage inventor-incentive award and recognition programs
- Serve as the interface for patent preparation & prosecution matters with outside patent firms
- Coordinate completion for USPTO cases of formal documents (declarations, Powers of Attorney, and assignments)
- Coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel to ensure accuracy and completeness of patent Information Disclosure Statements
- Support and assist IP team in conducting and overseeing outside counsel and vendors to provide trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement
- Support domain name, trademark, and fraud investigations and other contentious actions under the direction of the IP team attorneys
- Support Instacart’s copyright prosecution and enforcement practice
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 3 years law firm or in-house experience as a patent administrator involving U.S. (and preferably international) patent preparation and prosecution
- Strong organizational and time management skills with superb attention to detail
- Comfortable having a fast-moving and heavy workload, with constantly changing priorities
- Capacity to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to work autonomously to manage matters from start to finish
- Comfortable with distributed work environments, collaborating across time zones and cultures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and process-development skills
