Manager of Law Enforcement and Government Response
About the Role
Chime is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Manager of Law Enforcement and Government Response (LEGR). You will play a key role in Compliance Operations by managing the team responsible for working with law enforcement and other government organizations in responding to requests for information, reviewing and analyzing accounts identified in these requests, and making investigative referrals. This role is central to protecting Chimeās members and product by serving as our primary liaison to law enforcement agencies seeking information from Chime and handling their requests for information.You will have the opportunity to formulate new policies and procedures, and work alongside Fraud Operations, Compliance, Risk, Legal and other team members.Ā
This job cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Manage Chimeās LEGR team responsible for responding to criminal subpoenas, search warrants, and other law enforcement inquiries
- Represent Chime and communicate with members of law enforcement and government agencies to facilitate requests for information, and ascertain intelligenceĀ
- Lead the process for analyzing and summarizing intelligence from law enforcement, and make determinations and cross-functional recommendations and referrals to Risk Operations, Security and Member Services teams.Ā Ā
- Handle escalations and complex cases from the LEGR team. Analyze and scrutinize the validity of requests, and ensure compliance related to member privacy
- Manage projects to develop processes, metrics and protocols that will be used by Chime to streamline workflows,Ā the intake and response process, make internal referrals and assess trends in requests.Ā
- Engage with law enforcement to obtain assistance in investigating large-scale fraud schemes impacting Chime, and threats against Chimers and/or Chimeās offices.Ā
- Work directly with Chimeās Legal, Compliance and outside counsel to handle complex cases and continually update LEGR policies
To thrive in this role, you have
- 10+Ā years of work experience in a legal, compliance or trust and safety role handling requests from law enforcement, regulatory or government agencies with a focus on subpoenas, search warrants and court ordersĀ
- 5+ years of experience managing a team of direct reportsĀ
- Ability to work with team members and government agency personnel at all levels while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism, collaboration and discretion
- Working knowledge of cybercrime and financial crime types that may be detected within the Chime system
- Knowledge of the mechanics of payment card fraud, check fraud, and how stolen card credentials are obtained
- In-depth knowledge of the mission and purview of various law enforcement and regulatory agenciesĀ
- Familiarity with the requirements of the Electronic Communications Privacy ActĀ
- JD or advanced degree preferred (BA or BS required) .
