We’re looking for an enthusiastic and thoughtful ads product counsel with managerial experience to lead our Ads Product Counsel team.  The right candidate will have years of legal expertise in digital advertising, has partnered closely with product and engineering teams and is experienced managing and developing a team.  As a thought partner to our cross-functional teams, you’ll work primarily with our Ads Product and Ads Engineering leadership and their teams to provide legal guidance on regulatory and industry changes; you will also be capable of advising the business on a wide range of scalable ads product initiatives from development, to launch and post-launch with a focus on internationalization of all products.  You will work collaboratively with our policy team, advising on ads content related issues globally. You will also work collaboratively with partners across the company, including on our commercial and privacy legal team, sales, safety and product marketing. What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the thought leader and advisor on a broad range of US and global compliance issues related to advertising on the Reddit ads platform
  • Establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans
  • Develops the team’s strategic priorities and key objectives
  • Responsible for shaping Reddit ads legal policies that have company-wide effect 
  • Manage our ads product counsel team
  • Understand and stay up to date on U.S. and global laws and regulations related to global privacy regulations, advertising platforms and ability to explain complex legal issues in basic terms for the company
  • Provide legal advice to Reddit’s Ads product and engineering teams from the initial stages of product development to launch for products related to ML, brand, ads measurement, targeting, delivery and reporting, billing, platform and modeling, advertiser onboarding, and more
  • Advise the policy team on the global ads policies
  • Design, build and refine processes and offer continuing education and training for such processes
  • Provide pragmatic day to day and strategic advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business goals and initiatives

What We Can Expect From You:

  • Enthusiasm and passion for technology, law, and business  
  • Eagerness to learn new things, comfortable handling ambiguity and thrives in a team environment  
  • Superior organizational and communication skills with an attention to detail and a sense of humor
  • Experience providing actionable legal advice in a setting with varied risk thresholds
  • Deep understanding of online advertising at a global scale.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal counsel experience, along with 2+ years of experience managing attorneys 
    • In-house ads product counsel experience at a technology company is highly preferred  
  • JD, admitted to the Bar (or foreign equivalent), great academic record
