About the Cruise Legal Organization:
Cruise is creating a new-to-the-world service and a world-changing category of autonomous vehicle mobility. On the legal side, the rules are being written now, and we’re the team charged with helping guide the company on legal and risk considerations as we unlock the future. We’re a collegial group in which every role matters, and you’ll have a big impact on high stakes decisions, working with technical and development teams solving some of the hardest engineering challenges of our generation.
Day-to-day responsibilities Include:
- Provide guidance on and drive compliance efforts relating to global privacy and data security regulations and standards
- Work with partners and internal stakeholders to build and evolve a scalable privacy program
- Counsel stakeholders on privacy and security incident preparedness and management
- Work closely with our government relations team to research and track global privacy and security legislation, evolving regulations, and enforcement and provide feedback and practical advice to stakeholders
- Administration and resolution of privacy issues that arise in all manner of commercial relationships
- Maintain and update Cruise’s privacy statements
- Create and deliver privacy training content
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
- Mid-level attorney with 5+ years experience in well-regarded law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Privacy counseling experience and deep knowledge of applicable privacy regulations
- Ability to collaborate on multiple projects with short deadlines simultaneously
- Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional projects
- Highly responsive and service oriented with excellent legal and business judgment
- Member of a State bar, preferably California
