Bolt is hiring a Senior Counsel to join our growing legal team. As our second attorney, this position will report to our VP Legal and focus on commercial transactions, product counseling, and compliance. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, comfortable making bold decisions, can operate independently, and is effective working cross-functionally. This is an incredible opportunity to help define and build out the legal function at a fast-growing technology company. 

What you will do:

  • Work closely with the go-to-market and partnerships teams to structure and draft sales and strategic partnerships agreements
  • Negotiate other commercial agreements including vendor agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and data protection agreements
  • Advise Product and Engineering teams on new product features and functionality to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Draft clear and effective terms of service for Bolt products and services
  • Create and maintain key legal department infrastructure such as our contracts management system, playbooks, and policies
  • Work with the compliance team to administer Bolt compliance and data privacy programs

What would set you up for success:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including in-house experience at a fast-growing technology company
  • Expertise in commercial transactions and at least one of the following areas: data privacy, fintech & compliance, marketing & advertising compliance
  • Sound business judgment, an ability to evaluate and manage risk, and willingness to make decisions
  • Ability to simplify and explain complex ideas and frameworks
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a wide range of partners
  • Highly organized, with strong communication skills and a preference for clear writing over talking
  • A JD and admission to a state bar
