Zoomies help the world connect — and deliver happiness while doing it. We set out to build the best video conferencing product for the enterprise, and today help people communicate better with products like Zoom Phone, Zoom Rooms, Zoom Video Webinars, Zoom Apps, and OnZoom.

We’re problem-solvers and self-starters, working at a fast pace to design solutions with our customers and users in mind. Here, you’ll work across teams to dig deep into impactful projects that are changing the way people communicate, and enjoy opportunities to advance your career in a diverse, inclusive environment.

Zoom is looking for a Senior Product Counsel to join our innovative and rapidly growing Product Legal team. In this role, you will work on interesting and complex legal issues, including novel issues of first impression, as we help to build the solutions that bring people together through a frictionless and secure video-first communication platform. You will join our collaborative team of in-house lawyers as we proactively assess and mitigate legal risks and advise on OEM hardware partnerships, strategic alliances, and other key integrations that directly impact Zoom and our users. Zoom is expanding rapidly and we are looking for an outstanding attorney that can manage a large and complex workload negotiating deals, credibly counsel clients, and improve legal processes to scale and improve efficiency. This role reports directly into the Deputy General Counsel, Products & Marketing and can be a remote role.

In this role, you will:

  • Be an integral part of the product legal function for Zoom with primary responsibility for supporting and counseling Zoom Rooms, Zoom for Home, integration and distribution of devices pre-installed with Zoom, and strategic alliances.

  • Partner with product development teams to review product, engineering, design, and operational implications of new products, integrations, and initiatives.

  • Counsel, collaborate with, and advise multiple stakeholders across product, engineering, marketing, and business development throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Conduct legal product reviews and maintain an inventory of features, technology, data, and compliance requirements.

  • Understand and stay up to date on U.S. and international laws and regulations related to Zoom’s products and services.

  • Provide pragmatic day to day and strategic advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business goals and initiatives.

  • Regularly partner with internal teams to understand strategies, roadmap, and initiatives, and advise on new features, activities, markets, etc., to ensure alignment.

  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance on the design and modification of products, proactively identify associated risks and recommend mitigation strategies, review product user experiences to ensure legal compliance and proper disclosures, and help document guidance for consumption by members of both the legal and product teams.

  • Review, draft and negotiate applicable agreements, public facing disclosures, disclaimers, terms of use, or other public facing documents for our customers.

You must have:

  • 10 or more years applicable experience; qualified to practice law including admission to a state bar.

  • In-house experience as a SaaS transactional or product counsel at a medium to large technology company strongly preferred.

  • Complex SaaS transactional experience is a must, including both inbound and outbound licensing.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Must be able to quickly boil down complex issues into strong documents.

  • Superior interpersonal and influencing skills. Must be able to bring together disparate goals, limitations, etc. into a collaborative and comprehensive final product.

  • Passion for Zoom and a deep appreciation of Zoom’s mission and impact.

  • Experience with the legal issues Zoom regularly faces – such as privacy and data protection, content regulation, intellectual property, marketing, and consumer protection – and a willingness to learn about the rest along with entirely new areas of law.

  • Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, build consensus among stakeholders, and maintain strong relations at all levels across the organization.

  • Drive to take ownership of projects and tasks which, in some cases, will be matters of first impression.

  • Openness to adapting his/her practice in response to a fluid and expanding product roadmap.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, adjust to rapidly changing priorities, and drive strategic projects to successful delivery.

  • Sense of humor, excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, strategic thinking, superior work ethic, flexibility and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to quickly issue-spot and appropriately prioritize risk and outcomes.
