The Clinical Regulatory Compliance Department provides support to the Clinical Care organization to meet the goals and objectives of the medical staff to meet requirements of regulatory agencies and provides support organization-wide to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. This includes development and enforcement of policies and procedures; ongoing research of regulations; development and implementation of methods for operationalizing and communicating regulatory requirements and providing interpretation of regulatory language in the ever-changing telemedicine space.

The Senior Regulatory Compliance Associate directly contributes to the ongoing understanding of and compliance with regulation to support the Clinical Care organization and Grand Rounds, globally. This role also partners closely with the legal team to ensure continuity of information and to support the overall compliance program at Grand Rounds. The primary objective of this role is to operationalize regulations applicable to Grand Rounds’ service lines and to implement interpretation and guidance from the legal team. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support legal team’s assessment of healthcare compliance policy and procedure and assist in updating or developing new policies and procedures to enhance operations or/and internal controls or to consider new areas, when appropriate
  • Partner with legal team on risk analysis on healthcare compliance
  • Ongoing evaluation of practices to identify areas of potential compliance risk and vulnerability, and create and implement solutions to eliminate the potential risks
  • Support Compliance Officer on compliance training in other laws such as HIPAA and related state laws to get employees informed on ethical and legal standards
  • Carry out internal monitoring and auditing for policy compliance, discover preventive and corrective measures executed for audit findings made earlier, and coordinate internal and external corrective measures to be executed
  • Be informed of current legislation and enforcement issues affecting the healthcare industry, as well as compliance best practices
  • Work closely with others in related departments, including legal, Employee Experience, IT, Compliance & Audit, and Finance for effective investigation, resolution, reporting, and remediation of compliance issues
  • Partner with legal team in the development of report for management on incidents, investigations, and all compliance issues
  • Carry out due diligence on new healthcare service lines before they are launched and design effective integration plan to mitigate non-compliance
  • Assist HIPAA Privacy Officer in carrying out their responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of 7-9 years experience in the healthcare care delivery compliance industry at a national scale
  • Experience with telemedicine is preferred
  • Experience and ability to initiate, develop, maintain, and review policies and procedures for the operation of a healthcare compliance program and other similar activities to prevent unethical, illegal, or improper conduct
  • Healthcare compliance evaluation and auditing experience to be able to discover operational problems and recommend and execute strategies to provide needed solution
  • Strong ability to research current regulations, interpret nuances in language and stay abreast of new and changing regulations
  • Strong ability to prioritize and perform multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report project risks and progress to senior management and colleagues
  • Strong knowledge of Google Suite of products (Docs, Slides, etc.)
  • Proven ability to collaborate and advise management on compliance matters; ability to develop practical business solutions and to facilitate risk assessment
  • Relevant certification in healthcare compliance, such as or CCEP, CHC, CHC-F, or CHRC, or a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification, or successful completion of a graduate certification program in healthcare compliance is preferred
