About the Role:

Upgrade is searching for a Fraud Monitoring Manager that will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution for the Fraud Monitoring Team. They will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and revision of fraud monitoring policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory changes and industry best practices. This role will be based in our Phoenix office in a hybrid capacity.


What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the process and Fraud Monitoring Analysts that review and respond to potential fraud threats
  • Provide second reviews for all functions within fraud ensuring adherence to procedures, SLAs, and best practices
  • Lead escalations and mitigation efforts of significant misconduct incidents or problematic fraud trends with cross-functional teams including Fraud Analytics, Fraud Product, Compliance, and other stakeholders
  • Responsible for the identification of emerging fraud trends and developing strategies to mitigate risk for Upgrade and its customers
  • Develop metrics and KPIs aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of fraud prevention methods, proactive monitoring, and loss mitigation efforts
  • Challenge existing processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency
  • Understand the risks of AML and fraud typologies that are presented by Upgrade’s product offerings and services, including lending and deposit products
  • Ensure coordination between Fraud teams to recover or chargeback stolen funds


What We Look For:

  • 5-7 years of BSA/AML, Investigations, or Fraud related experience
  • 3-5 years managing teams and processes
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills


Nice to Have:

  • Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, or equivalent query languages
  • Tableau or similar business intelligence or data visualization tool 
  • CAMS, CFE, and/or other relevant certifications
  • Prior experience in FinTech or start-up environment

The compensation range of this position in San Francisco, CA is USD $110,000-$130,000 annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
