Communications Manager, Corporate PR
Course Hero is scaling! We are looking for a Communications Manager who will develop and execute communications strategies, aligned with the business objectives, to amplify the company’s mission to key target audiences. They will be responsible for finding and generating newsworthy stories, as well as developing media materials, pitching reporters and helping develop Course Hero’s media presence. The Communications Manager will be creatively inclined, having an eye for engaging storytelling. They will collaborate with various teams to coordinate announcements, product launches and brand initiatives. They will also be responsible for protecting Course Hero’s brand reputation and have experience managing crisis communications.
Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:
- Identify and develop newsworthy stories to support the communications strategy
- Proactively build publicity opportunities relating to industry trends, business and tech news, advancing the educator community, partnerships and executive visibility
- Actively pitch reporters and cultivate media relationships with key journalists
- Research and prepare press materials including briefing documents, press releases, media alerts, pitches, communications plans, award submissions, speaking proposals and media lists
- Pursue reporter queries, in a timely manner
- Coordinate media briefings, media training and manage interviews and speaking engagements.
- Develop strong media relationships across business, tech, creative and education publications and will have proven success recording, tracking and reporting company media coverage and social media mentions
- Supervise competitive media activity and industry news
- Manage and improve department processes and procedures
- Liaise with PR agency, communicating communications priorities and preparing campaign materials
- Build out a thought leadership program and speaking bureau and develop byline content, keynote talks and scripts
- Collaborate with HR, events, social and marketing teams on special projects, events and partnerships
Are you our next Communications Manager?
- 7+ years of relevant PR and communications experience, both in-house and agency
- BA degree in a related field – marketing, creative, communications or journalism
- Experience with public speaking, presenting and collaborating closely with executives
- Extremely detail oriented and thorough
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding organizational, project management and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline and results-driven environment
- Ability to embrace change and adapt strategies on the fly
- A self starter with a team player demeanor and a sharp intellect
- Curious and passionate about the education and technology space and a strong desire to learn and explore new insights
