Communications Manager

The Role:
Carrot is seeking a Manager, Communications who is a versatile communications professional with a passion for storytelling. In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand communications efforts at Carrot, creating and executing campaigns that support our business objectives. You’ll develop, refine, and implement internal and external communication strategies to ensure that unified, consistent, and positive messages define and promote Carrot’s mission — fertility care for all. You’ll also get the chance to partner with our Clinical and Global teams to promote Carrot’s team of family-forming experts, so some healthcare knowledge is a plus. The role will report to Carrot’s Senior Director of Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communications campaigns and key performance indicators connected to the overarching marketing team and business goals
- Develop relationships with healthcare, business, and technology press
- Identify and leverage relevant product and corporate news and story angles to develop proactive communications plans in support of team goals
- Write pitches, press releases, and announcements
- Organize press events, prep spokespeople, and create briefing materials
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify compelling stories and create news moments
- Manage external PR agency to extend media reach and impact, including defining goals that drive ROI
- Partner with Content Lead to ensure maximum impact of social media strategy
- Partner with People team to develop and promote employer brand
- Regularly report on communications results and effectiveness, using clear metrics to define success and refine strategy and pitches
The Team:
This role will be part of Carrot’s Marketing team. Carrot’s Marketing team is responsible for sharing the Carrot story with the world, coordinating and producing all materials representing the business externally. The Marketing team builds and nurtures relationships prospects, customers, Carrot members, and the community while creating a brand image that showcases the company in a positive light.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of communications experience, preferably in healthcare
- Exceptional communicator with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to distill academic research and complex data into digestible pieces
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in healthcare, benefits, and media
- Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Comfort with the ambiguity inherent in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience with benefits is a plus but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare and/or benefits
- Experience managing PR agency relationships
