About the Role

We are searching for an experienced marketing strategist and story-teller to join the team responsible for all global instructor and class marketing at MasterClass. 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Brand Marketing, the Director  is responsible for developing multi-channel campaigns that drive differentiation and conversation in the marketplace - both in the US and internationally. 

You will work with your partners in the Talent and Content functions to determine the instructors we sign,  devise the overall annual roadmap for our class launches in partnership with your Brand Marketing and Member Marketing partners,  and develop bold launch campaigns that connect with culture and amplify the MasterClass brand across the globe. 

Our ideal candidate has a deep background in global consumer marketing and brand development and is both a big-picture strategic thinker and a detail-oriented executor. 


Responsibilities 

  • Drive strategy, budget and execution of class & instructor marketing through all forms of media
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within marketing and the broader organization to align on annual global launch calendar, marketing messages and creative approach
  • Oversee creative testing and asset optimization to maximize media spend
  • Work with PR/communications to align brand messaging and content approach across media and owned channels
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with agency partners and our internal creative team to brief, review and refine creative work in line with strategic objectives
  • Partner with Brand Insights team to surface key insights that will drive increased connection with consumers.
  • Partner across marketing channels (Acquisition, Conversion, Retention) to ensure an integrated and holistic approach.
  • Prepare and present progress against goals and relevant marketing metrics to team, cross functional groups and management


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of global in-house and/or agency marketing experience, with at least 7  years at the leadership level managing campaign strategy and creative. 
  • Experience working directly with top tier global talent 
  • Strong record of devising and delivering world-class global strategies and campaigns - and the courage to drive the work to greatness
  • Exceptional marketer and storyteller, with strong creative sensibility and deep experience with content marketing
  • Proven experience achieving business objectives and working within a complex environment to hit deadlines
  • You have a natural ability to collaborate well with others across the organization and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and highly-fluid environment
  • Keen ability to translate complexity into simple, clear communication
  • Strong understanding of media mix; experience across multiple marketing channels and mediums, e.g. digital advertising, search, PR, social media, email, etc.
  • Ability to get the best out of creative partners (copywriters, designers, editors)
  • An authentic, empathic leader, who advocates for her/his strategies, team, and colleagues.  Proven ability to lead high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to express your ideas and influence cross-functionally at all levels
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Background in creative design and brand marketing, preferably with a premium digitally-savvy brand
