About the Role

We are searching for an experienced, passionate philanthropy lead to help implement our social impact strategy, grow our team and build out an important dimension of our brand. 

Reporting to the VP, Head of Marketing, the Director, Corporate Social Responsibility  is responsible for defining and implementing our CSR strategy both in the US and internationally as we continue to expand into new markets. 

Elements of our overall MasterClass Serves strategy are already underway. In the past year we have formed partnerships with Departments of Correction and re-entry programs across California and in New York City to deliver free access to MasterClass content to over 100,000 incarcerated individuals; while every year for the past few years,  we have donated hundreds of thousands of free memberships to registered charities of all sizes through our MasterClass Grants program. 

In this role, you will own and expand our existing initiatives, while spearheading key new partnerships and programs, and leading our overall social impact communications. 

You will work with your partners in the MasterClass Brand Marketing team to devise programs, partnerships and communications that connect with culture and amplify the MasterClass brand across the globe; while working with partners in the MasterClass Talent and Product teams to gain the support and participation of our instructors, and ensure the delivery of our CSR programs respectively. 

Our ideal candidate has a deep background in philanthropic programs,  social activism and corporate social responsibility, and is both a big-picture strategic thinker and a detail-oriented executor. 


Responsibilities 

  • Drive strategy and execution of CSR partnerships and initiatives 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within marketing and the broader organization to align on our annual global CSR programs and communications, supporting  the priorities of the brand. 
  • Identify and negotiate with key CSR partners 
  • Work with PR/communications to align on initiative messaging 
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with agency partners and our internal creative team to brief, review and refine work in line with strategic objectives
  • Partner with Brand Insights team to surface key insights that will drive increased connection with consumers.
  • Prepare and present progress against goals and relevant metrics to team, cross functional groups and management


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in corporate social responsibility for a well-respected brand, organization, agency or foundation - with at least 5 of those years leading a team. 
  • Ideally, experience working with top tier global talent 
  • Strong record of devising and delivering world-class global strategies and programs - and the courage to drive the work to greatness
  • Proven storyteller, with strong creative and communications sensibility 
  • Proven experience achieving business objectives and working within a complex environment to hit deadlines
  • You have a natural ability to collaborate well with others across the organization and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and highly-fluid environment
  • Keen ability to translate complexity into simple, clear communication
  • Ability to get the best out of creative partners (agencies, copywriters, designers, editors)
  • An authentic, empathic leader, who advocates for her/his strategies, team, and colleagues.  Proven ability to lead high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to express your ideas and influence cross-functionally at all levels
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude
