We are looking for an experienced Marketer to expand Pathstream’s reach to the millions of Americans without access to effective education and career preparedness for today’s high-demand digital-skills jobs. You will work cross functionally in setting and driving the content strategy for our marketing campaigns and digital experiences. You’re an expert in merging consumer insights, with effective storytelling and can bring these narratives to life across a variety of marketing platforms. You know how to nurture online communities and measure results.  This is a high-visibility, high-impact position that combines the best of brand marketing and digital marketing in one role that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our users and partners.

As an ideal Content & Community Strategy candidate, you are a strategic marketer and can balance the qualitative and the quantitative effortlessly. You are experienced in building differentiated, engaging, and user focused content that is designed to attract, engage, and retain our target audience, online learners. You are skilled at deploying these multi-media campaigns across a variety of channels and are adept at community and social media management.  You are consumer obsessed and know how to reach our end users with compelling campaigns that drive results. You handle content themes, calendars, and narratives along with creative production to ensure the creation, delivery and optimization of content. You are experienced in developing, nurturing, and engaging with online communities across a variety of social networks / media. You are passionate about the future of education and excited about the Pathstream mission to reach non-traditional students and give them an educational experience that prepares them for the jobs of tomorrow. This position is based at Pathstream’s headquarters in downtown San Francisco, CA.

The Role

  • Develop and own content strategy that drives key business objectives and engages our end users, supports our brand and value proposition.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and agencies to build & deploy timely, highly-credible content to drive brand affinity, engagement, conversion, thought leadership, and action
  • Lead all aspects of content requirements and build content strategy across a project life cycle. This can include content audits (qualitative & quantitative analyses of all content and social media accounts) as well as gap analyses.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative user and market research; collect, analyze, and distill information and data from multiple channels into actionable insights to inform overall content strategy that effectively engages our core users
  • Craft and maintain editorial calendars, content inventory, metadata frameworks and content migration plans relevant for Pathstream’s target audiences
  • Strategically manage and nurture social media and online communities 

About You

  • Direct B2C experience in content strategy, community / social management, brand management, and digital marketing, specifically developing and leading strategic & innovative content marketing, while nurturing online communities
  • Analytical abilities necessary to collect key business and user insights, and to apply strategic planning skills to create a long-term vision for the content that’s generated
  • Ability to effectively communicate a product or a brand’s story, and to envision how content could be presented or distributed in formats other than text-based articles, such as rich media, videos, infographics, webinars
  • Firm understanding of user experience, user journeys, and desire to optimize content to enhance marketing touchpoints on that journey across Pathstream’s products, social media, and advertising campaigns 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of building and managing budgets and programs to support efficient and sustainable growth
  • Eagerness to roll up your sleeves and get stuff done; ability to think critically, be flexible, and solve problems in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Preferred:
    • Experience marketing educational products and/or other high-consideration e-commerce products
    • Startup experience, specifically growing from Series A to Series
