Zumper is seeking a Director, PR & Communications to head up and drive the strategy and execution of all PR and Communications efforts for the company. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership team, they will bring deep expertise across the range of corporate communications areas (brand, product, internal, crisis). From new product launches to brand activations to economic trends, they will be passionate about building one of the next iconic brands with stories that are ambitious, timely, engaging and relevant!

What You Will Do

• Define and develop the overall communications strategy and annual calendar aligned with company goals and business objectives
• Develop a content strategy to create data-informed campaigns
• Forge and maintain excellent strategic relationships with journalists, media outlets and influencers
• Serve as a spokesperson to local and national media to communicate complex ideas into simple, credible narratives
• Identify, vet and proactively secure press interviews, speaking opportunities, profiles, and Op-Ed pieces for key executives to position Zumper leadership as thought-leaders
• Provide interview and speaking prep for executives, including the development of presentations, talking points, briefing documents, and other written and visual materials
• Draft pitches and press releases for a wide range of company announcements, ensuring brand consistency
• Lead all crisis communications efforts
• Manage our external PR Agency and set targets for all key activity (qualitative and quantitative) and report back to the business on a monthly basis
• Build and develop an exceptional team

Who You Are

• 10+ years working in PR, Communications and Media Relations
• Consistent track record of delivering outstanding media coverage
• Strong media relationships with journalists across business, technology, real estate, finance, and consumer
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to speak in public
• Experience in crisis communications and scenario planning
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to bring new ideas and thinking and overcome obstacles with limited resources
• Highly organized, phenomenal attention to detail and ability to ruthlessly prioritize
