About the Role:

Excellent Product Marketers have many skills, but generally they specialize in a few areas, which is why we designed this role to be flexible. 

The Director of Product Marketing will have primary responsibility for two of the following areas: Messaging and Positioning, Competitive Intelligence, Thought Leadership or Customer Advocacy. On top of that, they will assume responsibility for either AR or Product Launches. 

This is a critical senior-level position with an incredible opportunity to have an impact on BigPanda’s success, collaborate with world-class GTM leaders, and become a PMM leader over time. 

This role will be based out of our Mountain View HQ or our New York City office, but we’re also willing to consider remote candidates based in Austin, Chicago, Atlanta or any other major metro area in the US. Travel is expected to be up to 20-25%. 

Responsibilities:

The opportunity to own at least two of the following areas:

  • Positioning and Messaging: Cement BigPanda’s leadership status in the IT Operations space by owning and shaping BigPanda’s differentiated positioning. Combined with crisp, compelling messaging, make sure that BigPanda stands out in prospects’ minds.
  • Competitive Intelligence:  Identify and track primary, secondary and tertiary competitors. Arm the sales team (AEs, SEs and SDRs) with competitive battlecards and talking points. Translate competitive news and updates into actionable information for the sales team. Understand where and why we’re winning/ losing, and use this data to create and deliver collateral and enablement/training sessions on an ongoing basis. 
  • Thought Leadership: Work closely with the CTO and Product leaders to determine the themes and ideas designed to increase BigPanda awareness, and shape and influence the IT Operations space. Then, evangelize these themes and thoughts using compelling blog posts, talks at events and conferences, Webinars, whitepapers and more.  
  • Customer Advocacy: Serve as an expert on our customers and their pains; understand how and why they use BigPanda. Work with our customers so they can tell their stories through conferences and events, case studies, videos, testimonials and more. Own our Customer Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Analyst Relations: Identify key influencers in the analyst community and track their research on an ongoing basis. Clearly and effectively communicate BigPanda’s positioning in relation to the space and the competition. Ensure BigPanda coverage and placement in research notes, waves, reports and quadrants. 
  • Product Launches: Work closely with Product Management and Marketing to determine what to launch when, and how, to maximize impact and reach. Own the product launch plan, calendar and execution for new, major and minor launches.  
  • Other responsibilities, on an as-needed basis:
    • Contribute to our sales enablement efforts, alongside the Director of Product Marketing for Sales Enablement
    • Support marketing campaign design and planning activities

Requirements:

  • BA/BS required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a small company or start-up environment. 
  • 8+ years of enterprise B2B software product marketing experience that maps to the areas outlined above.  
  • Able to confidently and effectively communicate with customers, partners, sales leaders, influencers, and senior management. 
  • Proven ability to work with the marketing, product and sales orgs on strategic plans and tactical execution activities, as they relate to product marketing. 
  • Must be able to independently create slide decks and present them internally and externally (customer meetings, events, conferences, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • MBA a plus but not required.
  • Domain experience in IT Ops / ITSM (incident / problem management) / NMS / EMS or ECA is a major plus, but not a must-have.
