Overview

Clumio is looking for a Director, Technical Marketing to create value-based messaging for our cloud-native SaaS data protection solution. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders on articulating technical benefits, product messaging, competitive positioning, and building customer-facing technical content. We are looking for a sharp, creative individual who can punch through the noise in the IT market.

The ideal candidate is an action-oriented leader who can illustrate and demonstrate a new conversation about enterprise data protection in the cloud.  You must be able to thrive as an individual contributor as you interact with customers and sales to determine what kinds of content will best guide the customer to a valuable business outcome and remove the friction from the sales process at the same time. The optimal individual will have strong product expertise, technical knowledge of data protection and superior communication skills.


In this role you will:

  • Create compelling written, graphical, presentation and video content that communicates technical capabilities in customer language. Aimed at the technical buyer, deliverables will include ‘how-to’ content, sales engineering enablement, explainer videos, white papers, demos and reference architectures as needed.
  • Train sales, sales engineering, customer success teams and partners on competitive differentiation to accelerate sales and drive adoption.
  • Present technical capabilities and differentiation to internal teams and prospects in small groups and large audiences.
  • Demonstrate how Clumio works with partners like VMware and AWS with unique and powerful written, graphical, presentation and video content.
  • Publish content through social media and other outlets that informs influencers about Clumio and gains their awareness and support for our technical value.
  • Develop competitive intelligence content and represent Clumio as a thought leader and expert in data protection.

Requirements:

  • 7-10+ years in technical marketing for high-tech companies that target enterprise IT organizations. Deep experience in data protection is required. SaaS and public cloud experience are each a plus. Experience in a customer facing sales or SE role is a plus.
  • Experience building compelling technical content with demonstrable results
  • Effective at communicating with influencers in the space. Ideal candidate will be skilled at social media and will have built a strong network of connections across the data protection ecosystem including partners, influencers and customers.
  • Bachelor’s in business, engineering or computer science – or related industry experience
  • Exceptional technical skills including the ability to deeply understand our product, identify weaknesses in competitive products, and effectively communicate value to audiences with varying technical skills
  • Strong project and organization skills with the ability to optimally structure and prioritize work
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence critical stakeholders and to communicate the team’s vision and accomplishments
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and high energy
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to travel up to 30%
