Who we’re looking for:

Skillz is looking to hire a Global Head of Developer Marketing to expand our amazing brand within the mobile gaming industry. In this role, you will work closely with C-level executives and senior leaders across Product, Content, Sales, and Communications to create a thriving developer ecosystem. Your knowledge of this audience will enable you to execute strategic campaigns encouraging developers to integrate Skillz. You are able to empathize with the game development process and can explain how Skillz helps developers create fun, competitive experiences that engage and retain players. You must be passionate about gaming, excited about the future of esports, and skilled at cultivating meaningful, resourceful relationships with developers.

What you'll do:

  • Define developer engagement strategy/positioning, and lead execution to drive adoption of the company’s competitive platform. 
  • Help developers understand how Skillz can drive higher engagement, retention and success by enabling social competition in their games.
  • Collaborate with the Product & Content teams to ensure the product roadmap fulfills developer needs through our Developer Portal and SDK.
  • Create and oversee demand generation infrastructure.
  • Manage developer community dynamics, identifying and elevating influencers while keeping a pulse on community sentiment.
  • Set up and refine systems, processes, and programs for communicating with, supporting, and inspiring developers (documentation, emails, newsletters, website, support, events, etc.)
  • Collaborate with leadership team to identify strategic market segments, product/feature priorities, and tactics for engaging developers and influencers to grow community engagement and successful integration with Skillz. 
  • Build metrics/reporting/analytics to quickly gauge developer response and understand their behaviors.
  • Ensure Developer Marketing efforts support Sales and BD initiatives.
  • Produce events centered around educating and empowering developers at conferences, meet-ups, hackathons, webinars, and workshops, including presentations and hands-on mentoring.
  • Manage and build out the Developer Marketing team.

Your skillz:

  • Prior experience as a VP/Director of Marketing or Developer Relations with a successful track record of building, leading, and managing a team within a well-regarded and branded technology company.
  • Experience marketing a B2B product (preferably in the mobile games industry).
  • Has established relationships with game developers (preferably mobile).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to build innovative marketing campaigns, combined with the tactical ability to execute.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset.
  • Experience creating and managing global, multichannel marketing budgets and processes.
  • Experience managing and scaling advertising spend.
  • Have successfully grown a marketing department from 0 or a few people to 5+
  • Comfortable operating in a venture-backed environment while creating a larger than life company.
  • Raw intellect, talent, and energy are critical.
  • Ability to be both a leader and hands-on “doer”.
  • Low ego, pragmatic, and down to earth.
  • Direct yet collaborative communication style.
