We are looking for a dynamic leader to set the strategy, build the processes and the team to tell meaningful, relevant and timely stories about Coinbase’s products and services. 

This person will develop and execute product communication plans that educate and raise awareness for Coinbase products, and includes daily ownership of: overall strategy, planning, product and partnership announcements, executive support, speaking engagements, industry events and conferences, and thought leadership.

The Director of Product Communications will report to Coinbase’s Head of Communications. 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Drive clear narratives about our products, business and vision
  • Develop strategy and playbook for a wide range of launches, announcements, and major product communications to support Coinbase’s product and company objectives, work cross-functionally with senior leadership and teams across Coinbase, including product, engineering, marketing, legal, and customer support
  • Develop written materials, including company messaging and statements, communications plans, press releases, blog posts, FAQs, and other collateral
  • Partner with the Chief Product Officer, VP of Engineering and their organizations to drive alignment between product, engineering and communications and elevate Coinbase’s product story internally and externally
  • Build a strong product communications team that can creatively reach existing Coinbase customers and drive awareness with new customers across consumer, institutions, ecosystem partners, and developer audiences
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with business press, consumer media, key industry opinion leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Develop messaging and programs that frame and amplify our products

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

 

  • 10+ years work experience in product/consumer communications 
  • Experience working directly with reporters, editors, bloggers, researchers, industry analysts and other thought leaders.
  • Experience launching tech products to traditional press, new media and influencers to reach key audiences
  • Ability to leverage media campaigns and content creation to generate increased awareness for Coinbase’s range of products across audiences
  • Creative thinker who is looking for opportunities to challenge conventional product communications playbooks
  • Proven track record successfully developing, building, and launching Communications programs for products that delight and inform customers
  • Excellent written and spoken communicator with ability to explain complex topics into simple, powerful messages 
  • Experience in day-to-day media relations and/or agency background
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, representing the communications team collaboratively across a variety of key internal stakeholders, including: product, engineering, legal, marketing, and customer support.
