About the Role:  

Planet is actively seeking a Senior Customer Marketing Manager to be a key part of the Product Marketing team, with a focus on building effective customer case studies and a scalable customer reference program, and on working closely with the Customer Success and broader commercial teams to help them better understand how Planet products solve our customers’ business problems. The Senior Customer Marketing Manager will bring to life the power of Planet’s products and datasets, through our customers’ points of views and for their business-driven use cases.  

The person in this role will develop the template and approach to best ‘harvest’ the underlying story and business value customers have gained from Planet’s data products, working closely with the Customer Success, Pre-Sales Engineering, and Product Marketing teams. They will also build out our customer reference program and repository to help Planet’s sales, product, and marketing teams understand how our customers and prospects gain advantage through use cases derived from our high cadence, global satellite data.

Lastly, the Senior Customer Marketing Manager will build rapport and develop strong relationships with our key strategic customers and help them highlight their stories and advocate for their brand and other business objectives as identified.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Create and drive a strategic, top-tier customer reference program that drives revenue.
  • Identify key customers that can act as a marketing channel through case studies, speaking opportunities, and more. Drive opportunities for promotion and broad-based leveraging of customer success assets.
  • Work closely with identified customers to tell their story, highlighting the business problem, why it was important to solve, how Planet helped to solve it, the impact and the return on investment. Create compelling case studies, videos, approved customer quotes, etc. from this intake.
  • Work collaboratively with Customer Success, and train and support the team so they can integrate the case study information and outcomes as part of the onboarding and ongoing customer relationship management process. This will drive scale for Planet and enable great storytelling across the organization.
  • Develop strategies for integrated customer reference engagement plans that showcase customer success via a variety of deliverables including: written, video, and peer-to-peer customer stories, quotes, business and technical case studies and slide-ware
  • Manage a library of up-to-date customer success stories, quotes, and reference opportunities supported by the customer. Manage reference request fulfillment and track reference activity and outcomes.

What You Bring:

  • BA/BS or equivalent working experience, with at least 5 years of experience in Customer Marketing, Product Marketing, Customer Success, or Account Management
  • Experience with global organizations and international customers a plus
  • Strategic thinker who can write powerfully and effectively and can develop a program and customer reference process that can scale 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Superb presentation and client-facing skills
  • Strong project and program management skills
  • Passion for serving and understanding customers
  • Interpersonal skills that help to nurture customer relationships and effectively work with cross-functional teams  
  • Analytical skills to determine marketing effectiveness and ROI of customer engagement efforts
  • Technical knowledge of Salesforce.com and Gainsight a plus
