About the Team
The Crunchyroll marketing team plays a crucial role in driving growth for the Crunchyroll streaming service and additional Crunchyroll business lines.
The growth marketing team focuses on global user and subscriber acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization. The team works across multiple marketing channels and specialties, including paid media, SEO, product marketing, lifecycle, and integrated marketing. The Senior Director of Growth Marketing role will lead all these functions. They will be responsible for building a scalable growth strategy and crafting programs and campaigns that will drive growth and revenue to help the team run more effectively. Additionally, this role will have a detailed purview into the broader marketing org’s priorities. Our ideal candidate will build processes to establish workflows, drive more efficiency across the org and project manage cross-team campaigns and initiatives aimed to meet various marketing goals, ensuring a cohesive strategy and narrative across all marketing channels.
The position will work closely with leaders in Marketing, PR, Creative, Finance, Business Intelligence, and Product orgs to push the company forward by driving continued growth in users, subscribers, and revenue across all business lines.
A Day in the Life of Senior Director, Growth Marketing:
- Lead the development and execution of a worldwide growth strategy for our streaming service to maximize subscriber acquisition, AVOD/free user growth, engagement and retention through campaigns and programs that span a variety of paid, owned and earned media tactics
- Support the growth of additional business lines (Crunchyroll Store and Crunchyroll Events) by working closely with business unit leads to build programs to maximize return on investment and processes for effective cross-functional workflows
- Partner closely with the product org to foster growth and retention, and to lead go-to-market plans for new products and features on our platforms
- Work cross functionally with the business intelligence and finance teams to forecast business growth and set the strategic approach for driving the highest value marketing investments. Evaluate the effectiveness of our acquisition strategy and determine multi-touch attribution modeling
- Own communication of growth strategy to ensure that various partners including executives, business intelligence, finance and creative services are informed of strategy, trends, achievements, campaign performance, and growth roadmap.
- Oversee an 8-figure marketing budget and establish optimal timing and allocation of budget across marketing channels and geographic regions to maximize value.
- Partner with the VP/Head of Marketing to establish and communicate goals and priorities across the broader marketing team
- Develop the annual marketing campaign strategy to maximize growth, optimizing around content and seasonal, competitive and industry trends
- Establish workflows to create seamless campaign creation and delivery, with an emphasis on cross-functional alignment, transparency, and proactive planning
- Build and optimize the infrastructure needed for rapid growth. Evaluate tools, marketing partners, agencies, data needs, attribution models, and testing capabilities to build the optimal foundation to scale campaigns and report on performance
- Build and lead an outstanding team and instill a growth mindset
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Marketing/Business; MBA a plus
- 10+ years of marketing experience, including extensive experience in performance marketing, digital marketing, and leading multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Consistent track record of successfully leading a multi-million dollar marketing budget and scaling customer growth (ideally a subscription business)
- Previous experience executing campaigns with various internal partners across the marketing team as well as in different functional orgs
- Excel in strategic prioritization and decision making; effectively balance long term business goals with short term need
- Strong leadership and ability to communicate to senior executives; Mastery in storytelling, marketing strategy execution and development across paid, owned and earned marketing channels
