About the Role:

Reporting to the SVP, Product & Marketing, and serving as the “voice” of Syapse, the Senior Director of Marketing will be responsible for the development of Syapse’s marketing, public relations, brand and communications strategy and will contribute to Syapse’s organizational strategic operations. This individual will lead their team to develop a world-class communications plan for Syapse, directly managing activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation, sales efforts, client communications, and investor relations. You will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of marketing and public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. You will be an ambassador for the organization and will need to establish clear and consistent messaging internally and externally. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic marketing and communications strategy to advance Syapse’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its offerings; and increase the visibility of its solutions to diverse stakeholders including customers, partners, prospects, employees and investors.
  • Establish and maintain priorities and focus in an ever-changing environment of competing priorities and needs across the organization 
  • Create a marketing communications strategy that will allow Syapse leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including health systems, life sciences companies, regulators, investors and other partners.
  • Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the marketing organization, working with leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external marketing and communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Marketing Department including budgeting, planning and staff development, event management and internal and external communications.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders across the company (e.g., customer success, business development, People, etc) to understand and anticipate communications needs and develop programs that support company OKRs
  • Recruit and manage appropriate marketing team to support the development and execution of the marketing strategy
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in health care technology, molecular diagnostics or commercial biopharmaceutical marketing organizations, managing comprehensive strategic go-to-market communications platforms, and marketing programs to advance an organization’s mission and goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is required, an advanced degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in health care technology and precision oncology, proactively building relationships with top tier partners, and in successfully positioning subject matter with external stakeholder audiences to achieve national recognition
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
  • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing specialists
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical efforts for the company
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Syapse’s Board of Directors and staff
  • Demonstrated executive presence with the ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as a strategic thinker
  • Excellent and persuasive communicator

Pluses: 

  • MBA from top business school
  • Oncology, molecular diagnostic or precision medicine-specific experience
  • Experience in Management Consulting, or the like, framing initiatives, plans, and deliverables for stakeholders
