The Opportunity
Our Product Marketing team leads go-to-market strategy for new launches, works closely with product to inform product roadmaps & strategy, and executes campaigns to drive production adoption & growth. Product Marketing is a highly cross-functional role at Afterpay, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, Brand, Sales, Design, Content, Growth & Acquisition, and Communications teams. Our team works across the entire product lifecycle, from helping shape the product, to driving launch, to growing product adoption post-launch.
We are hiring a product marketer to lead key initiatives and support product marketing for our in-store business line, which enables consumers to use Afterpay in physical, brick and mortar stores. This person will be responsible for helping scale & drive product adoption across key markets including Australia and the US by building and executing against compelling, customer-facing campaigns, creating global strategies & playbooks to optimize the consumer funnel and drive engagement, and working closely with our Sales team to develop compelling narratives and GTM strategies that drive merchant funnel growth. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of launching marketing campaigns to drive adoption of innovative consumer products and has previous experience in and a passion for retail.

Own campaign strategy & execution to drive adoption of our in-store offering globally
Partner closely with local teams, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, to understand unique market requirements, localize campaigns and drive growth
Develop a deep understanding of the customer through qualitative and quantitative research and translate into key consumer insights to inform marketing strategy & funnel growth
Keep a pulse on market trends and the competitive landscape. Regularly publish competitive analyses on competitor positioning and identify product gaps & differentiators to help inform product roadmaps
Understand the product functionality deeply and translate into customer and merchant-facing messaging
Develop compelling campaigns & narratives that resonate with the target audience and drive trial & engagement of our in-store offering
Analyze the customer conversion funnel to understand where and why customers are dropping out.
Partner with Product & Design to improve key user flows, in-product messaging, and product education (e.g. how it works landing page, sign-up flow)
Be a strong thought partner to the Sales team. Keep a tight pulse on the product roadmap, package it for Sales consumption, and identify opportunities based on merchant & Sales team feedback.
Enable our sales team to sell to prospective merchants through compelling narratives, training, and marketing materials/collateral (including regularly updated external-facing and internal-facing 1-pagers on key features)
Evaluate product and campaign performance using relevant KPIs and feedback from existing and prospective customers.
Who are you? (Qualifications)
7-10 years of relevant work experience in product marketing
Experience working in and a passion for retail
Experience working on product marketing throughout a product’s lifecycle
Proven track record of strong cross-functional collaboration
Strong verbal and written communicator, with the ability to synthesize a complex situation into a concise plan
Data driven and strong analytical skills
A team player who is accountable, proactive, and solution-oriented
Self-starter who has experience scaling 0-1 products and global programs
