Reporting to our Global CMO, the VP, Marketing will be directly responsible for designing and executing the marketing strategy and plan that will drive explosive growth for Afterpay’s fastest expanding markets. Our business is growing incredibly fast outside of our home market of Australia. Growth in the US and UK, along with the impending launch of Canada and other international markets requires a marketing leader of calibre, vision, hustle and dexterity.
Not only will you be an impactful leader who thinks at the speed of retail, you also will obsess over your audience. Lastly, while you are highly competitive and a hustler by nature, you remain brand centric with a deep understanding of the emotions and social ties that drive our customers and our merchant partners.
Organizationally, the VP of Marketing role also requires a seasoned developer, manager and mentor of people and will be tasked with managing and scaling a highly talented team to help execute the marketing plan in a startup-paced environment. The best candidates will also have deep experience across multi-brand management and loyalty, as well as a fierce sense of competition when designing and executing on a GTM strategy.
-Building our merchant and trade brand
-Designing and executing top of funnel consumer marketing
-Managing marketing relationship with merchant partners
-Developing + executing innovative partner marketing programs
-Owning partner marketing calendar
-Managing (and growing) a team of 15+ exceptional people
-Operating successfully within a matrix model, across functions and regions
-12+ years of experience in marketing
-7+ years of experience in marketing leadership positions
-Demonstrated ability to influence and align internal partners around marketing and go-to-market strategies
-A hands-on leader who can strategize at an executive level and can also precisely execute on their own and through others
-Brand marketing experience
-MBA or related graduate degree preferred
-Impeccable communicator who can distill complex information and translate into simple, easy-to-understand language across audiences.
-The best candidate will have taken a company through a scaling phase in a key marketing role and can speak to examples of their success.
