About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA 

What you will accomplish:

Develop and enhance eBay’s continuous integration framework, merging build/compile/test/validate processes with scheduling, automated notifications, and graduated build software deployments. Build and debug large-scale software distributed systems and help with observability and monitoring of the system. Build and manage platforms that currently handle all of eBay’s public and private site traffic. Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to design and develop software applications and features for eBay’s merchant platform and contribute to open­source projects. Build a very resilient distributed system at eBay’s edges that can proxy all eBay traffic and also eBay’s service mesh for all services with unparalleled observability. Guide other software developers in different phases of system development, guiding best practices with coding and programming tools/methodologies. Contribute knowledge and experience of the networking topology to solve any network-related issues encountered by the system, deploying and troubleshooting large-scale infrastructure, and utilizing experience with networking technologies. Apply programming languages to build the system and build automation around it for better observability and remediation. Utilize multi-threaded programming methodologies such as telemetry infrastructure to accumulate and export statistical information from existing applications for integration into new technical designs. Telecommuting permitted – work can be performed from anywhere in the U.S.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.    Experience designing and developing complex software applications using Object-Oriented Design principles and C++ (3 years).
2.    Experience designing and implementing distributed systems to ensure high availability and scalability (3 years).
3.    Experience designing and implementing robust software solutions, following best practices and design patterns (3 years).
4.    Experience defining and serializing structured data using Protocol Buffers (Protobufs) (3 years).
5.    Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs (3 years).
6.    Experience developing, securing, and troubleshooting web applications using HTTP and HTTPS protocols (3 years). 
7.    Experience in version control and collaboration using GitHub, with experience in managing code repositories (3 years).
8.    Experience in scripting and automating tasks using Python, with hands-on experience in developing scalable applications (2 years).
9.    Experience deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications using Kubernetes (2 years).
10.    Experience working with TCP/IP protocols for network communication (2 years).
11.    Experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for network routing and management (1 year).
12.    Experience in project management and issue tracking using JIRA (1 year).

Salary: $187,741.00-254,200.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
