About Faire

Faire is an online wholesale marketplace built on the belief that the future of retail is local. There are over 1M independent retailers in the U.S. and Canada doing more than twice the revenue of Walmart and Amazon combined. At Faire, we're using the power of technology and data to connect a growing community of over 150,000 brands and independent retailers around the world. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products to sell in their stores. By empowering entrepreneurs with the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so that small businesses can compete with big box and e-commerce giants. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About this role

This is an opportunity to be an early contributor on Faire’s most exciting category - apparel. Our product strategy lead will help us define our strategic direction, drive critical decisions, analyze potential threats, and evaluate new opportunity areas within apparel.  This is an ideal role for someone who wants to work as a high-impact individual contributor in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and data conscious environment.

In this role, you are directly contributing to the company’s success by identifying, structuring, analyzing, and recommending solutions to our toughest strategic questions.  Your work will help ensure that we are becoming the leading destination for retailers to purchase apparel.

While we are currently remote due to Covid-19, we are seeking candidates who are based in the San Francisco Bay Area or the greater Los Angeles region OR who committed to relocating to these locations upon our eventual return to the office (timing to be determined).

What you’ll do

  • Structure dynamic and ambiguous questions with analytical rigor and autonomy, driving projects from problem definition to final recommendation
  • Evaluate white space business, product, and partnership opportunities
  • Build thought leadership on the future state of the industry and potential impact to Faire’s apparel and overall strategy
  • Identify issues, develop hypotheses, and execute in-depth analyses to translate data into relevant insights and make recommendations to Faire’s leadership team based on your findings
  • Help decide where to deploy our resources to maximize long-term strategic value
  • Lead large cross-functional critical initiatives that move company metrics in partnership with Sales, Product, Finance, Operations, Marketing, etc.
  • Develop a position on M&A opportunities and trade-offs and craft a decision-making framework to evaluate future opportunities

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience across consulting, investment banking, private equity, business operations, and/or business analytics
  • You have executive level interpersonal, listening, and communication skills - you can use verbal and written communication to express ideas clearly, and succinctly
  • You excel at hypothesis-driven problem solving and utilizing both quantitative and qualitative insights to get to a recommendation
  • You are highly analytical and data conscious -- you can execute on ambiguous problems and sophisticated analyses
  • You can think across multiple dimensions of a business (sales, product, marketing etc.) and work well cross-functionally to deliver results
  • You are eager to have a high degree of ownership, directly influencing our most strategic decisions and providing invaluable thought-partnership
  • You are curious, low ego, and enjoy learning from and working with a wide range of people
  • You have a passion for helping small, local businesses grow by leveraging technology and data
  • You have an understanding of the apparel industry OR you are excited about becoming an expert in the apparel industry
  • You have a growth mindset - you are eager to accept feedback and actively seek out ways to get better every day
  • You are relentlessly resourceful, striving, and scrappy - you won’t quit and you are willing to do whatever it takes to make apparel succeed
  • You are kind - you show compassion towards everyone
