The Benefits Operations Manager will be responsible for the operations of all benefits plans to include health and welfare, disability, retirement and time off policies for the company’s competitive benefits and policies globally. This role is responsible for partnering with key leaders across the business to provide scalable benefits operations practices in order to support the business and the People team. Our ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, is highly organized and a team player with true talent and passion for collaboration. You are excited to create a scalable benefits operations function and practices and then continuously improve upon them.  

Compliance:  Oversee the preparation and distribution of mandatory notices, disclosures, summary plan descriptions and summary of material modifications. Responsible for ensuring that all filings of periodic regulatory reports and filings required by ACA, ERISA and other applicable laws related to benefit plans. Work closely with third party administrators, vendors and internal teams to ensure existing and new administration processes meet compliance requirements.  

Operations: Oversee all benefits audits and is responsible for streamlining, troubleshooting any data errors, process breakdowns and working with vendors, third party administrators and internal teams to perform root cause analysis and corrections. Manage benefits administration third party vendor and/or TPA relationships and lead RFP for benefits service delivery. Make recommendations for changes that support an improved benefits delivery experience. Partner with members of the benefits team to implement new benefit plans and vendors. Develop internal operating procedures and controls to administer and manage benefits operations.

In conjunction with the Director, Global Benefits, HR Operations & Mobility develops an annual operating plan and budget for all benefits programs. Monitor and analyze trends related to benefits and the global external market, such as government regulations and market data/surveys. What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and shape the global benefits operations function so we’re providing a great experience to employees and ensure that every one of our employee’s feels supported, heard and empowered
  • Build effective partnerships with the People team, Talent, Legal, Finance and Accounting teams to create and manage Coinbase’s global benefits
  • Deliver a relationship management approach with the employee with the emphasis on a positive and informed experience
  • Monitor performance of service providers and hold them accountable for performance measures

What we look for in you:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years of benefits operations experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate into actionable insight
  • Expert understanding of transitioning to self-insured plans, 401(k) Plans and the accompanying laws and regulations
  • Previous experience with Workday benefits modules  
  • Adapting and evolving benefits operations and strategy through multiple phases of a company’s growth

Nice to haves:

  • Global Benefits Operations experience
  • Experience in a startup culture - comfortable with ambiguity and non-stop problem solving, building and action
