We're a team of technologists who love to teach, and we're looking for a developer community manager to help us reach, organize, and inspire the vast Redis community.

As a developer community manager, you'll lead the growth and nurturing of our community through several initiatives. You'll run our champion program, which recognizes key contributors and empowers them, in turn, to lead within the community and help other developers on their Redis journeys. You'll help build our online communities, including a fast-growing Discord server and a YouTube channel. You'll also work to define and run future programs.

This is a cross-cutting role that interfaces with our developer relations, product, and marketing teams. As such, our ideal candidate has a wide range of skills and is able to speak the language of software developers, marketers, and product managers. If you've worked with open source communities, all the better.

What's most important to us is finding someone who loves to bring people and technology together. If this sounds exciting, we'd love to hear from you!

Data is the lifeline of every business, and Redis Labs helps organizations reimagine how quickly they can process, analyze, make predictions with, and take action on the data they generate. As the home of Redis, the most popular open-source database, we provide a competitive edge to more than 8,000 global businesses with Redis Enterprise. We have major strategic partnerships with cloud vendors Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. We’re a unicorn with a company valuation of more than $2 billion and have raised more than $347 million in funding. We’re growing fast and expanding our staff across our five global offices.

Responsibilities

  • Define and run developer community programs for open source Redis and Redis Labs
  • Identify and nurture community leaders, and give them the resources they need to help onboard new developers with our technologies
  • Represent the developer community to the Redis Labs product, marketing, and open source teams
  • Represent Redis Labs in the community building community

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a community (e.g., events, meetups, clubs, etc.)
  • High-level understanding of programming languages, databases, and developer tools (e.g., you know the difference between Java and JavaScript)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to building an open, diverse, and inclusive developer community
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Advantages

  • Experience building open source developer communities
  • Ability to define goals, measure results, and communicate impact
  • Experience with Redis or open source software
  • Thought leadership or participation in the community experience community
  • Experience using GitHub for issue management on either a software or documentation project
  • Awareness of community management software platforms
  • Familiarity with databases and/or at least one programming language
