We are seeking an accomplished communications leader to help us mature and scale our employee communications function. The Director of Employee Communications will be a hands-on leader who partners with Communications, People Team, and leadership colleagues to advance a modern employee communications program that nurtures GRAIL’s outstanding culture, advances company priorities, and supports employee engagement and retention.


You possess incredible emotional intelligence and intuition. You anticipate the needs of others and work diligently to build an environment of open and honest communications, always ensuring that GRAIL values are promoted and instilled.. You’re creative and inventive and have an eye for detail. You’re an excellent writer, visual communicator, and project manager. You build relationships quickly across all levels of an organization. You are equally comfortable executing and counseling.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Programmatically and creatively engage and inform employees across our sites
  • A leader in crafting the future of Employee Communications
  • Define internal communication standard methodologies to help us better engage our employees
  • Manage and improve existing communication channels and practices
  • Handle complex, unanticipated and fast-moving communications challenges as a thought leader and trusted internal consultant
  • Consult on both strategic and tactical matters, developing and executing thoughtful plans to support company priorities 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in internal and employee communications
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with a knack for simplifying complex topics to their essence and making them relevant to our audiences
  • Hands on position, you will roll up your sleeves every day in this team
  • Proven track record of working within innovative and effective internal comms teams
  • Finger on the pulse of communication tools, resources and trends -- you know how to effectively leverage a toolkit appropriate for a fast-growing company
  • Extremely creative -- experience in adjacent functions like external communications and marketing is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Possess strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion
  • A master at counseling and influencing leaders, while being obsessed with clear messaging and elegant at navigating competing priorities and ambiguity
  • Experience with growing a company from 1,000 to 10,000+ employees.
