About the Role (and/or Team)

The Director of Facilities & Workplace services will be responsible for building our understanding of the short, medium and long-term space needs of HashiCorp’s business, and curating/managing our portfolio of space. This position will report to the VP, Finance and will have an opportunity to build out their team as our HashiCorp team, and facilities portfolio grows. 

HashiCorp is largely a distributed workforce with its headquarters in San Francisco. Our current portfolio of facilities include ~40k sq.ft in San Francisco, regional spaces in London, Bulgaria, and flexible office space in the APAC region. Our portfolio of office space will grow in APAC, EMEA, and the US over time. 

This role will be responsible for delivering great places of work that fit with our distributed workforce. Your role will include driving planning and strategy around global location expansion and executing on the creation of new office locations, building a strategy around places for offsites, and maintaining and enhancing our current spaces in San Francisco. 

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Work with leadership to determine and implement workspace, and facility/real estate expansion strategy in the US and internationally 
  • Lead and manage activities and negotiations relating to lease, site selection, design, planning, construction of new facilities, and modification or expansion of existing facilities, and contract services including obtaining necessary licenses, permits, and clearances
  • Work alongside IT, and ITSec to ensure all sites are inline with corporate and local security standards
  • Create capital project, and operating budget reports for multiple properties,
  • Create and review various facilities management reports
  • Meet with management team, and appropriate departments to discuss, resolve and discrepancies
  • Build, lead, manage, motivate, teach and develop a team and contracted staff to carry out the workplace management functions
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, responsiveness, and creativity in the day to day workplace management activities
  • Promote change and facilitate continuous improvement in all areas of workplace services

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • Attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years or more of related experience and/or training,
  • Experience with distributed workforces
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, including capital budget justification
  • Track record of impacting strategic change, and initiatives at scale
  • Exceptional financial management skills
  • Experience in project and program management at scale and with high level of execution and quality
  • Ability to think 'out of the box' and bring creative, nonstandard and innovative solutions that help to enhance organizational function, and enable team productivity
  • Willingness to be an Individual Contributor while you build up a great team around you
  • Willingness to travel as needed
