At Volta we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of the electric vehicle. Volta creates city-wide free electric vehicle charging networks in major metropolitan areas. Our charging networks are free-to-use, free to our property partners, and monetized through brand sponsorships and digital media content.

Volta Field Personnel and Project Managers are hard to find; leaders of this team are even harder. They need to be excellent operators themselves, while having the skills to build solid relationships across the organization to ensure the Operations team is fully aligned with all internal teams and goals. Leaders in the Operations group look out for the personal and professional development of the members of their team and exercise great judgment every day to build consensus and prepare cross-organizational groups to get to work. Additionally, you work with your team to execute effectively, collaboratively, and with a smart sense of urgency in meeting Operations and company-wide goals.

As a leader of this specialized group the Director, Field Operations is a key member of the Volta leadership team and also works at the intersection of Product, Site Sales, Media Sales, Finance and Operations.

This position will be based in San Francisco and will report to the SVP, Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a growing, distributed team that manages all maintenance, functionality and aesthetics activities related to our installed base of EV charging stations across the entire US. Additionally, you will work with other Operations leaders to ensure effective collaboration and communication among teams
  • Take a lead role in identifying and executing significant, cross-functional projects that will improve our execution and growth
  • Develop metrics, track execution and report in a timely manner on these metrics and their impact on the business

  • Demonstrate expertise in Volta’s product and technology offerings while establishing credibility and building confidence with all levels of customer and internal decision makers, influencers, and stakeholders
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to the team and continually seek innovative methods for improving team performance
  • Assess skill sets, identify gaps in knowledge, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members while providing guidance on career path direction. You are skilled at delivering training on business problems, project management skills, process improvement, and messaging
  • Motivate your team and build a sense of team engagement
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target networks and help the Operations team understand how to best deploy that information
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Senior Vice President, Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You like the idea of spending about 10-20% of your time traveling to observe field work and personnel

BONUS POINTS

  • You are a stronger candidate if you are an EV driver or have experience in the EV space
  • You have a background in leading teams that maintain and service distributed field assets in the mobility space (bikes, scooters), transit shelters, outdoor information kiosks, or a Network Operations Center (NOC)-like environment
