Director of Market Access

With the recent landmark FDA authorization of the Helix Laboratory Platform and Helix’s Sequence Once, Query Often™ model, we have a unique opportunity to change the way genomics is reimbursed. As the Director of Market Access at Helix, you will be in charge of defining and implementing a strategy to do just that. You’ll be responsible for building out our strategy from the ground up including overseeing health economic analyses, crafting materials to outline our value proposition to payers, developing relationships and negotiating contracts with priority payers, and serving as the subject matter expert on trends in the reimbursement of molecular diagnostics. 

As Director, Market Access you will:

  • Drive the development of tools and materials to effectively communicate the economic value proposition of Helix’s platform and unique Sequence Once, Query Often model to payers and other key stakeholders
  • Oversee cross-functional and external efforts to develop supporting health economic analyses
  • Identify and execute on novel pilot programs with target payers to explore alternative payment models for germline genomics, with an aim to demonstrate the value of broader use of genetic screening in healthy individuals and our Sequence Once, Query Often model 
  • Prioritize and manage relationships and contracting activities with priority payers for Helix’s COVID-19 and population genomics businesses – including building / growing relationships with tech assessment groups, laboratory benefit managers, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Keep up to date with changes in the industry, payer policy trends, and other information to make proactive recommendations on appropriate payer targets and strategies 
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all things reimbursement related to support ongoing business development activities and strategic partnerships

Qualifications:

  • Mission-oriented, with a deep passion for improving people’s lives through DNA
  • At least 10 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of achieving favorable reimbursement for molecular diagnostics with commercial (national and regional) payers
  • Strong network / relationships with commercial payers and other organizations / societies that influence access to molecular diagnostics
  • In-depth understanding of the US payer landscape and reimbursement trends and mechanisms, in particular with respect to molecular diagnostics
  • Able to think outside the box with respect to reimbursement strategies for Helix’s Sequence Once, Query Often™ model
  • Comfort with analysis of health economic arguments and the underlying science and clinical impact of molecular diagnostics
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • BA or BS required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Set the strategic direction for reimbursement strategy for the launch of a novel molecular diagnostic
  • Experience securing coding, coverage, and payment for a novel molecular diagnostic
  • Led the development of health economic analysis for an innovative payment model or care paradigm
