Director of Risk Insights
About the role
The Risk Insights team analyzes emerging fraud threats, develops data driven insights, and executes on complex, technical roadmaps to mitigate fraud risk to Chime and Chime’s members. As the Director and leader of this team, you will be responsible for ensuring the team delivers insights that inform fraud detection strategies and drive healthy payments volume. Analysts on the team use Individual problem-solving and analytical skills to authenticate customers, review transaction patterns, and perform exploratory analyses on emerging fraud trends. Decisions are made in real time, using complex data sets, and are expected to be high caliber. The team will generate data driven insights, which will be used to inform and influence change across the organization. This role can be performed remotely.
This role cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Leverage your expertise and that of your team to develop insights to quickly source, analyze and deduce root cause consistently and accurately across the Chime platform
- Be able to effectively articulate and influence within the risk organization and cross-functionally on actions recommended from the team’s fraud analysis
- Execute analysis for identifying and consistently categorizing the root cause of fraud events observed or attempted at Chime
- Hire and manage a team of experienced fraud analytics professionals
- Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance policies and monitoring activities
- Provide cross team and cross functional engagement to ensure timely execution on deliverables, and transparency to affected subject matter experts
- Create detailed issue mitigation strategies and drive issues to closure closely working with cross-functional teams
To thrive in this role, you have
- BA or BS degree; MBA or other advanced graduate degree a plus
- 6+ years of experience in a risk analytics role (primarily focused on transactional fraud
- 6+ years of SAS/SQL/R/Python or comparable analytic coding experience
- Experience with digital banking, payments and/or payment networks
- Proven track record of people management, including experience managing nimble, distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working at a hands on level with other groups like engineers, product managers, data analysts, operations analysts in building operations processes and systems
- Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation skills; including ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management
- Sound experience in troubleshooting and diagnostic methodology involving technical, cross-functional teams, when necessary
