Position Summary


We’re looking for a Director, Total Rewards to join our Global Talent team! The ideal candidate thrives in the startup environment, is very hands-on, naturally curious and highly collaborative. This is a great opportunity to be the first TW hire and build the group from the ground up at a dynamic, global company. This position can be located anywhere within the U.S., but will work closely with team members located on the West Coast so be flexible.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Director, Total Rewards will lead Harness’s compensation and benefits programs by:
  • Reviewing and maintaining the global cash compensation ranges including creating additional ranges as needed; ensuring ranges are based on verifiable market data and perform ongoing review and analysis.
  • Staying abreast of market trends by industry, location and role to ensure Harness’s Total Rewards programs stay competitive
  • Partnering with the Talent Acquisition team to compile additional data intelligence to supplement other market data.
  • Providing recommendations on process and program improvements and partnering with internal stakeholders in HR Operations, Finance and Accounting to ensure alignment across all functions.
  • Partnering with the Director, HR Business Partners and Finance on compensation budgets and planned Talent reviews.
  • Playing a key role in headcount budget planning; ensuring that budgets align with the current ranges and appropriate budgets are set for new roles.
  • Owning the annual compensation calendar.
  • Managing relationships and projects with external partners, consultants and vendors as it relates to compensation and benefits.
  • Creating and/or managing Total Rewards summaries and collateral for candidates and employees in partnership with external brokers and partners.
  • Managing global benefits renewals and the implementation of new benefits as needed.
  • Being responsible for aligning all Total Rewards programs align with the company’s and the CEOs compensation philosophy, mission and values.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of total rewards experience
  • Experience managing total rewards for a global workforce is a must
  • Able to stand up a new function within the HR organization, including planning for team growth to support company growth and needs
  • Experience using HRIS and Compensation tools, able to evaluate and recommend new tools and able to make impactful improvements in a short period of time
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills required - this position will work with Talent team members, Finance and Accounting leads as well as organizational leaders
  • Advanced Excel skill is a requirement
  • You have an eye for identifying problems and recommending and implementing solutions
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and advise toward action
