Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status
Crunchyroll employees are currently working from home, and we are still conducting remote interviews and hiring during this time. This role is expected to start remotely, and we’ll work closely with you as we understand every person has unique circumstances.

About The Team
The Franchise Management team is in charge of the largest anime IP at Crunchyroll, and works with multiple teams throughout the company to promote and turn them into the biggest anime franchises. We treat big IPs like big businesses, and ensure that they are taken care of from pre-simulcast until even after new episodes stop airing. We are passionate about being the stewards of our IP, advocating for and finding opportunities to help them grow and expand their audience. We work to align stakeholders, ensuring the success of our IPs. We help to build anime franchises that go beyond just streaming; we transform them into full 360 businesses from events to merchandise, distribution, and beyond!
About You:
- 2-4 years of relevant entertainment experience, working directly with content and/or franchise management
- Strong time management skills; you can keep track of multiple projects in various stages of completion and progress
- Well organized and detail oriented; you’re self-motivated and manage your own projects with minimal intervention
- Can think strategically about big-picture plans and ideas
- Flexible and willing to change directions quickly, adaptable to a fast-paced environment
- Understand the importance and nuance of working with partners from different cultural backgrounds, particularly Japanese business culture
- Strong, collaborative teammate
- Proactive with an optimistic mentality; passionate about learning new things, making tasks more efficient, and asking questions wherever needed
- Comfortable stretching and learning outside of your defined role, open to taking on new challenges, and pursuing tasks outside of your comfort zone
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a professional and flexible approach to both external business partners and internal teams
- Have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably related to Communications or Marketing
- Strong interest in anime and Japanese pop culture is a huge plus!
- Proficiency in Japanese language a plus
- Proficient in either Mac or PC, comfortable navigating software outside of Microsoft Office / Google Apps suites
A day in the life of our Franchise Manager:
- Develop and own franchise execution plans and timelines for assigned IPs across the full lifecycle of rights exploitation, from marketing and promotion to downstream exploitation such as content distribution and merchandising
- Conceptualize and present high-level ideas for assigned IPs
- Work cross-functionally to ensure franchise plans are executed and benchmarks and goals met
- Manage multiple IPs at various stages in their lifecycle
- Align stakeholders across multiple departments on upcoming projects and projected timelines
- Build an exciting narrative for content creators around the success and management of assigned IPs, and ensure it is communicated back to partners
- Know assigned IPs thoroughly to enable marketing collaborations and exploitation that resonates appropriately
- Serve as a point of contact for managed IPs across internal departments and potential external partners
- Proactively update changes to exploitation strategy based on data, market trends, or changes to priorities, and communicate the rationale behind the change
- Take care of our IPs; we ensure that partners know their content is in good hands with us
