Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Global Mobility to lead a team of global mobility professionals covering international and domestic relocation, international assignments, as well as immigration and tax programs. This role has overall responsibility for the design, development, benchmarking and implementation of programs, policies and procedures relating to international assignments, transfers and international and domestic relocation.

The successful applicant will possess breadth and depth of knowledge across mobility and understand how to align strategy, design, and operations with the requirements of the business.

This role requires the successful candidate to align our mobility programs to our business and talent strategies with a desire to tackle existing complex problems as well as a proactive approach to anticipating future program needs as we scale and grow.

In this role, you'll get to

  • Act as an advisor to develop strategic solutions that enable and support international and domestic employee mobility.
  • Provide guidance to team members on approaches to program design, employee experience, quality standards, analytics, compliance, and other aspects of the mobility life cycle.
  • Work with the other members of the HR team to ensure the mobility programs and practices are aligned with the business strategy and the talent strategy.
  • Provide leadership within the Total Rewards function and serves as liaison to Talent and other leaders on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Research and develop innovative mobility approaches that address strategic business needs.
  • Lead large-scale Mobility projects that directly impact the business or provide oversight to team members who are leading these projects. This may include leading Mobility integration of acquired companies, or the introduction of changes to programs or policies.
  • Ensure vendors are working with Atlassian as well as across vendors to enhance the employee experience throughout the mobility lifecycle
  • Partner with technology and operations partners to ensure mobility services are effectively delivered
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for global mobility and ensures tax compliance for mobility and immigration reporting matters.
  • Partner with Legal, Tax and HR leaders to ensure compliance with and success of mobility programs.
  • Provide general oversight to a team of Global Mobility professionals in mobility strategy, program design and operations with a deep understanding of the external view of trends and practices for globally mobile employees.
  • Stay abreast of mobility best practices, monitors legal developments, and evaluates emerging trends. Provides supporting market data and best practice recommendations

On the first day, we'll expect you to have

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required in Business, HR or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility global mobility program and policy design and administration, 5+ years of people management experience
  • Certification in global mobility/relocation, Tax, or Immigration is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of global tax and immigration considerations, government regulations, and international assignment compensation
  • People leadership skills including coaching and mentoring a globally distributed team
  • HRIS systems experience, Workday a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication and analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of the company
  • Influences up, down, and across the organization by virtue of deep and evident subject matter expertise and a highly collaborative, inspirational leadership style.
  • Skilled at getting individuals, teams, and an entire organization to perform at a higher level and embrace change
  • Ability to think globally, strategically, and objectively and experience developing and implementing large scale projects and change initiatives
  • Strong collaborator with all people functions, including strong partnership with the HR business partner community
  • Solid understanding of global tax and immigration considerations, government regulations, and international assignment compensation
  • Possesses breadth and depth of knowledge across mobility and understands how to align strategy, design, and operations with the requirements of the business.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence to plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time and budget constraint
  • Ability to engage with and influence at all levels including executives, HR Leaders, other internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated ability to build trust and communicate and present effectively verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organization, planning and decision-making skills essential; ability to balance needs of the business and the employees while maintaining compliance
