About You and The Role  

The raw materials for our aircraft and ground equipment are sourced from a global supply base, and our finished products are deployed worldwide to meet our mission.  Our Global Logistics team keeps this complex and complicated network moving - ensuring that our Manufacturing Teams have the materials to build and that our Operations Teams have the hardware to complete their life saving tasks.  Freight Procurement ensures that the Logistics team can maintain those end to end Supply Chain connections in the most cost effective manner possible by sourcing reliable, consistent and consolidated intercontinental and domestic freight services.

The ideal Freight Procurement Supply Manager will properly balance the development, implementation and management of freight procurement strategy with the operational concerns of supply continuity, pricing, flexibility, quality and Supplier performance.  They will build strong working relationships with Material Planning, Manufacturing, New Product Introduction, and Quality Teams and Suppliers to assure cost, quality and performance targets are met, and they will work toward good Supplier relationships and total costs of ownership to achieve maximum advantage for Zipline and its customers.

What You'll Do  

  • Own all areas of freight procurement management including category business plans, global market and pricing analysis and procurement.
  • Own end to end creation and implementation of RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's - ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented.
  • Ensure Non-Disclosure Agreements, Statements of Work and Master Purchase Agreements are in place before business is initiated.
  • Lead purchasing activities, develop bid specifications, negotiate contracts and consolidate results in order to deliver sourcing recommendations.
  • Use industry expertise, market research and trends to develop procurement strategies and drive price negotiations processes and ensure best in-class pricing;
  • Evaluate freight Supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models.
  • Evaluate and provide guidance on final selection of freight Suppliers; perform value analysis for final selection of freight Suppliers.
  • Maintain global transportation and ancillary service contracts.
  • Manage freight Supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution.
  • Analyze current spend and evaluate current freight Suppliers. Consolidate spend across the transportation supply base to create leverage, analyze purchasing trends and develop sourcing alternatives. Identify new high potential suppliers on a global basis.
  • Drive continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through strategic price negotiations.
  • Develop key performance measures for chosen freight Suppliers and negotiate on multiple variables to award longer-term strategic contracts that result in significant cost reduction and improved service levels.
  • Evaluate freight Supplier business proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance or containment.
  • Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with freight Suppliers.

What You'll Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Engineering preferred. 
  • 3+ Years of related experience in Vendor/Carrier management in Supply Chain.
  • 3+ Years of Air and Ocean Shipping (International) experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes (SOP's, RFP / RFQ / RFI's, PO's etc.).
  • Superior negotiation, organization, analytical, and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality results.
  • Track record in planning, execution and delivery of projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, including an ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization, including technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in changing priorities and assignments while managing rapidly changing information.

What Else You Need to Know   

Must be willing to travel domestically and overseas.
