Kraken completed the acquisition of Crypto Facilities in February 2019, a world-leading, regulated cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform (MTF). We are looking for a Head of Operations to lead the Crypto Facilities Operations team.


As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the Operations team to ensure the smooth running of the Crypto Facilities MTF and to assist with the growth of the venue, both in terms of the product offering and the client base. You should be keen to manage a team and mentor junior team members, whilst also providing a hands-on approach to department tasks. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a derivatives trading environment, with a deep understanding of requirements applicable to trading activity under MiFID II/MiFIR being preferred.


We will be only be considering candidates in the EMEA region for this position.

Responsibilities - This is a dynamic role in a fast-changing business - but for example, you will:

  • Become an expert in the Crypto Facilities platform and products
  • Be responsible for the smooth operation of the Crypto Facilities MTF, which is a 24/7 regulated trading venue
  • Ensure the health of all markets on the venue
  • Build and manage a team of Operations Associates
  • Be the accountable individual for all queries pertaining to the operation of the platform, including from both external and internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with the CEO of Crypto Facilities to ensure business goals are being achieved and regulatory requirements are met
  • Work with Crypto Facilities’ compliance and product teams to ensure Member onboarding and support meet regulatory requirements and industry-leading client experience standards
  • Work closely with Crypto Facilities’ product, engineering, compliance and client engagement teams to ensure the smooth and timely deployment of new products 
  • In time, become a key member of internal governance committees and decision making bodies
  • Establish strong working relationships across functions and management levels, working collaboratively and independently
  • Present key venue information and developments to the Board of Directors as required 

Requirements

  • 10+ years working in regulated trading venue environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Graduate degree or professional certifications in a relevant field preferred
  • Strong interest in and familiarity with both cryptocurrency and traditional financial industries
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience
  • Demonstrated personal and professional security and privacy hygiene
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent attention to detail and follow through
  • Ability to deconstruct convoluted problems and develop precise plans of action
