The Company
Astra's mission is to improve life on Earth from space by creating a healthier and more connected planet. Astra delivered its first commercial payload into Earth orbit in 2021, making it the fastest company in history to reach this milestone, just five years after being founded in 2016. By achieving monthly, weekly, then daily launches, we'll create the infrastructure services our customers need in space to build a healthier and more connected planet. If you're excited by a sense of possibility, the chance to innovate, and make a difference here on Earth, we think you should work here too.
The Team
The Supply Chain team provides the company with the resources necessary to execute on its mission. This includes materials and components that comprise the vehicle, manufacturing equipment to build our products, and supporting services to operate the business. As part of Supply Chain, the Inventory team is tasked with ensuring the physical materials and components are stored safely and securely, accounted for correctly, and deployed reliably to the manufacturing production teams.
The Opportunity
As an Inventory Specialist, you will play an integral role in keeping rocket production moving forward. You will be on a team responsible for receiving, securing, tracking and supplying thousands of individual components to a diverse group of cross-functional stakeholders. On any given day you will shift from receiving urgent part deliveries, to updating our internal ERP software, to packaging critical components for internal and off-site delivery. Independently handling inventory cycle counts, logging physical and virtual stock levels, and fielding questions from various stakeholders will become second nature - and occasionally happen all at the same time. This is a fast paced role that requires an active approach, excellent communication skills, and a responsive, flexible attitude.
How You'll Fulfill Your Mission

    • Maintain the integrity of virtual and physical inventory systems through regular updates based on goods received, parts outgoing, transfers, and pick tickets.
    • Take ownership of all incoming freight, standard carrier deliveries (UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.), completed Machine Shop materials, and other internally-produced parts for put-away into the correct Inventory, Consumable, or floor stock location.
    • Ensure outgoing materials and shipments are packaged securely according to engineering specification, labeled correctly, and sent on schedule.
    • Partner with the rest of the inventory team to plan and execute scheduled inventory cycle counts on weekly, quarterly, and yearly cadences and making any necessary adjustments to virtual inventory records.
    • Take receipt of Manufacturing Order (MO) requests from Production and pick required parts from Inventory before transacting the Pick in the ERP software and then delivering clearly labeled and safely packaged MO Kits to the appropriate production staging area.
    • Maintenance of the floor stock/twin bin materials on a weekly basis, re-ordering and updating part lists as necessary to maintain minimum stock on hand levels.
    • Coordinate with Quality on parts requiring inspection, pulling parts from receiving and transferring back post-inspection.
    • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders in an organized, adaptive way, demonstrating an ability to work through shifting priorities while emphasizing process and taking existing projects and broader company priorities into account.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively regarding the status of tasks, progress blockers, and potential risks to project schedules, including participation in team "Scrum" format action planning with weekly Sprints and daily stand-ups.

Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of professional experience in a fast-paced setting
    • Ability to lift, load, and deliver physical materials/equipment on a regular basis
    • Some reasonable schedule flexibility around critical production deadlines
    • Attention to detail
    • Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License
    • Excellent communication and a willingness to learn new software and tools

Desired Multipliers

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Warehouse, Logistics, Shipping/Receiving experience strongly desired
    • Familiarity/certification with forklifts, pallet jacks, and similar equipment preferred
