Virta is the first company with a clinically-proven treatment to safely and sustainably reverse type-2 diabetes without the use of medications or surgery. As our Senior IT Administrator, you will work closely with Information Security, the People and Operations teams, and a wide range of internal and external IT customers in several locations, ensuring their needs are met while helping design our IT strategy for the medium to long term. As Virta operates in a highly regulated environment, you’ll be working to enforce, maintain, and improve our zero-trust, cloud-first IT infrastructure while interfacing with established healthcare IT partners. And because Virta is experiencing very fast growth, you’ll be designing and implementing scalable, automated systems for just about everything in IT.

• Develop IT strategy:
• MDM and device/OS support
• New location IT

• Perform and/or automate helpdesk work
• End-user support (equipment, training, troubleshooting)
• Software integrations (SSO, file exchanges, etc)

• Audio-visual
• IT purchasing
• Contract negotiation
• Inventory management, ordering, asset tracking, spares, repairs
• Software and tool selection, consolidation, deprecation, transition
• Help recruit and manage IT resources in Denver

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

• Fully own all IT in San Francisco 
• Equipment
• Process
• Procurement
• Identify and prioritize IT needs throughout the organization
• Generate concrete plans for IT efficiency, effectiveness, and end-user support
• Help define, recruit, interview, and hire an IT resource in Denver

Requirements

• MDM in a mixed environment (mostly, but not entirely, MacOS and iOS)
• Office IT (ISP, firewalls, switches, wifi APs, audiovisual equipment)
• IdP, SSO (Okta ideally) and integrations
• Good judgment and ability to work independently
• Nice to haves:
  • Experience with regulated, secure environments (HIPAA ideal, SOX/PCI/banking/finance/legal/insurance OK)
  • IT purchasing, vendor management, contract negotiations, budgeting
  • Excellent communication (e.g. to write documentation, walk end users through issues, etc)
