About the role

Chime is looking for a highly motivated Senior Client Platform Engineer to join our agile Systems Engineering team and help address the ever-growing list of demands faced in a hyper-growth environment. You will engage with multi-functional business partners throughout project timelines to implement, run and own efficient solutions as we continue to scale safely. As a critical member of the IT organization, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of Chime and, of course, our Member-obsessed experience.

We like to be forward-thinking and believe a secure access platform can be built entirely in the cloud leveraging tools such as osQuery, JAMF, InTune, Crowdstrike, and Okta. An ideal addition to the team would be the authority in all things related to end-user computing (EUC) management. Pairing closely with our Security team, this role will make sure our fleet stays in sync with all policies and posture checks before being allowed access to our corporate data. This Systems Engineer role will apply effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to not only maintain a bullet-proof fleet but also protect our member's safety.

A successful candidate will take pride in building custom solutions when they do not exist and apply existing technologies to better implement what is already in place. You understand how to use various APIs and languages to automate manual IT operations and are familiar with cloud orchestration concepts; You exemplify the Chime core value “Simplify.” If you love building, breaking, and fixing things, are passionate about technology, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you!

For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $137,500 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Design, build and maintain automations across our endpoint management tech stack; Constantly optimize and make our fleet more efficient and easier to use
  • Build solutions for creating software packages, deployment, patch management, and encryption in our global Mac and Windows environment
  • Work with the IT Support teams to identify difficulties and issues in the environment and then implement solutions to increase productivity for IT staff and end-users
  • Partner with the Security team to identify and mitigate risks and threats to our fleet, as well as keep us up to date on security standards and practices
  • Implement compliance processes and related tooling to report overall configuration status
  • Develop metrics/reporting and maintain data to reflect the overall inventory, health, and compliance state of all devices
  • Document, teach, communicate and reinforce procedures and standard methodologies for the IT team and offer technical mentorship and troubleshooting assistance to junior team members

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Good understanding of Zero Trust or Beyond Corp concepts
  • Experienced with one or more general-purpose programming languages including, but not limited to: Swift, Ruby, Python, Go.
  • Five to eight years of experience in managing macOS with open source tools (e.g Munki or Puppet / Chef) and/or enterprise mobile device management systems (e.g Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, SCCM, AirWatch)
  • Certifications in Jamf 300 and 400, MS-100, MS-101 are a plus, but the equivalent experience that demonstrates mastery of the knowledge domains covered by those certifications is required.
  • An in-depth understanding of Apple’s MDM protocol and Configuration Profile specifications
  • An in-depth understanding of macOS fundamentals, such as installer and packages, Launch Daemons and Launch Agents, the preferences subsystem, system extensions, macOS built-in security tooling (endpoint security framework, openBSM, SIP, Xprotect, Gatekeeper, etc), and unified logs
  • An in-depth understanding of Windows System Administration and management, such as InTune/Endpoint Manager, Registry, PowerShell scripting, MSI packaging, WMI queries.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills to both technical and non-technical audiences in a remote environment
