Senior Associate, Enterprise Risk Management
About the role
As the Senior Associate on the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team you will partner across the organization to identify and escalate existential, strategic, emerging, and operational risk to senior leadership. Our ERM team plays a critical role in proactively identifying, mitigating, managing, and communicating the company’s risk exposure, both internally and externally. Leveraging relationships across the organization, our ERM team is building a robust second line of defense; our goal: safeguard Chime so that we can continue to provide financial peace of mind for our members.
We are looking for a skillful, personable, and creative Risk professional to help further develop Chime as the best-in-class, financial technology provider. In this role, you will partner closely with all departments to build proactive risk strategies and models from scratch. You are a team player, strategic thinker and an expert communicator who can bring teams together to ensure smooth collaboration and unite stakeholders around risk-based methodologies. This role will have a material impact on helping leadership make risk-reward trade-offs in achieving Chime’s business objectives. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Risk Management.
For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $114,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Lead the management and coordination of Chime’s corporate insurance programs. This includes:
- Develop a framework and lead the analysis for effectively transferring or retaining risk for the various insurance programs, including Management Liability (D&O, Crime, Fiduciary, and EPL), E&O, Cyber, and P&C (Workers Compensation, Property)
- Develop appropriate insurance management procedures
- Make recommendations for risk management strategies by focusing on analysis, peer benchmarking, and risk appetiteÂ
- Periodically assess the sufficiency of Chime’s coverage and policy options
- Coordinate with and support Legal on claims management for all lines of coverage
- Manage the day-to-day relationships with with third party service providers including insurance brokers and insurers
- Ensure critical third-party contracts include appropriate insurance coverage language and limits of liability
- Plan and coordinate corporate insurance budget with Finance
- Prepare loss analyses, identify exposures, recommend solutions, promote loss prevention methods, and monitor compliance with insurance procedures and internal policies
- Coordinate and respond to underwriter requests and audits
- Work with the other Senior Associate in Enterprise Risk Management team to ensure the ERM program and our insurance programs are aligned through:
- Facilitation of risk identification
- Definition of risk appetite of the organization
- Conducting scenario based risk analysis using quantitative methods to ensure appropriate risk managementÂ
- Build interactive reporting dashboards that will be used by leadership to evaluate Chime’s risk environment and insurance coverage
- Support special projects to evaluate and mitigate risks across Chime
To thrive in the role, you have
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or commensurate work experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Enterprise or Corporate Insurance Risk Management.
- Quantitative skill set; ability to synthesize data, build automation and visualization for risk reporting across departments.
- Familiar with risk management concepts
- Experience in Corporate Governance.
- Quantitative skill set; ability to synthesize data and build automation for risk reporting across departments.
- Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools.
- The ability to influence, build trust and drive results with business stakeholders across the organization.
- Excellent communication skills and can partner with multiple stakeholders, including senior executives.
- Professional certification in a relevant field (i.e., ARM, CPCU, CRISC, CRM, etc.) and understanding of relevant industry regulations and frameworks (e.g., COSO ERM, ISO 31000, etc.)
- A self-starter, motivated by continuously solving hard problems
- Able to travel (domestically and internationally).
