Manager, Physical Security and Safety

ROLE OVERVIEW
As the manager of the Physical Security and Safety program you will be responsible for managing our physical security capabilities, keeping our people safe as well as optimizing preparedness and response to incidents as we grow our footprint domestically and internationally. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program and ensuring that Benchling Physical spaces remain safe and inviting. You’ll be joining a security team responsible for building a best-in-class security program focused on providing value to the organization by emphasizing real world security. We’re looking for team members who are excited to apply their expertise to our mission of securing some of society's most sensitive data.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Manage the day-to-day physical security and safety operations for all offices
- Drive the implementation, development, and deployment of a comprehensive physical security program for all of our employees across all of our offices
- Partner with third parties and internal stakeholders to ensure current and new offices are designed to keep your fellow Benchlings safe
- Lead crisis/incident management, communications, and response. Coordinating with law enforcement when necessary
- Manage and oversee access control security management, physical security policies, training, and post orders
- With the help of your team members, educate the entire company about Physical Security threats and how to best mitigate them
- Work across the organization to foster collaborative relationships with other teams
- Partner with security leadership on the security strategy, goals and long term roadmap
- Translate strategy into execution by developing and executing quarterly roadmaps with clear OKRs
- Develop organizational culture, processes and tools around horizontal initiatives and operational work management
- Identify opportunities to streamline interfaces and collaborations within and outside of security

ABOUT YOU
- 10+ years of experience with increasing scope, responsibility, and complexity at a multinational company
- Relevant degree/professional qualification in security or related field
- Experience collaborating with local law enforcement, federal agencies, third-party vendors, and community organizations
- Experience reviewing architectural plans and security designs
- Experience managing third parties and onsite Security guards
- Experience as an incident commander responsible for leading large scale incidents
- Experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work
- Ability to engage and partner with leaders across the organization in cross-functional roles
- Strong communicator with the ability to communicate security risks to a wide variety of audiences
- Comfortable with complexity in the short term but can build towards simplicity in the long term
