We're looking for an amazing addition to our growing team who can shape the next stage of our Owned Brands portfolio. Grove’s Owned Brands is the driving force behind the company’s exponential growth. We create innovative consumer-centric & data-led Home and Personal Care brands and products that set the standard in efficacy, sustainability and aesthetic. 

As Packaging Director, you will work with a network of like-minded manufacturers, sustainability industry leaders, and across the Grove organization to bring innovative, leading edge new products to our platform. We want to hear from candidates who have demonstrated success in building innovative packaging from the ground up, ideally in the CPG space.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Design the packaging strategy for the Owned Brands portfolio in collaboration with the Innovation, Sustainability and Creative teams
  • Lead packaging sourcing for Home Care and Personal Care with focus on the next generation of sustainable packaging (plastic free and beyond)
  • Apply technical expertise to assess the viability of packaging structures, function and consumer (user) experience with a focus on elevating the quality of the experience
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop packaging components and performance requirements to meet consumer, business and manufacturing needs. This includes, primary, secondary and tertiary packaging and will require an understanding of multiple packaging materials and configurations.
  • Create packaging specifications, when necessary. Evaluate and validate packaging technical specs
  • Work closely with cross functional team members to develop and launch new product/packaging solutions into the market as well as cost saving initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities., eg. maximizing Supply Chain efficiencies
  • Lead, manage, and execute multiple complex and multi-disciplined projects with 3P suppliers. 
  • Own day-to-day communication with packaging vendors and hold them accountable to timelines, costs and deliverables
  • Build strong relationships to ensure that vendors deliver the highest level of service and support to Grove
  • Liaise between packaging and product vendors and support tech transfers when necessary
  • Ensure consistent quality of packaging is maintained throughout the multiple production & consumption cycles

ABOUT YOU

  • You understand how things are made, how to rigorously test them and how to drive materials innovation. Sustainable/Green packaging experience preferred but not a must have. 
  • You have in-depth experience working and negotiating with 3P packaging suppliers 
  • You have in-depth knowledge of the product development process; sampling, costing, testing, pre-production, TOP, etc.
  • You have 10+ years of packaging (design/ sourcing) experience
  • You have CPG experience (highly preferred)
  • You are passionate about leaving a positive environmental impact in the world
  • You have an entrepreneurial attitude. You want to design the future of CPG packaging today.
  • You are obsessed with the future of consumer behavior
  • You’re excited by the challenging of managing many complex, high-priority projects at once
  • You are a team player and strong collaborator
  • You love to work hard, learn fast, and make an impact right away
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills
