Overview

We’re looking for a Retail Development Manager to bring new stores to life across the US. In this role, you’ll be responsible for new Tonal store expansion and development. Working with executives and contractors, you’ll recommend future sites that match Tonal’s sales goals and high brand standards. You’ll be responsible for analyzing future site’s overall financial impact and manage the negotiation process between landlords and Tonal. Assembling an all-star team of architects, contractors, and vendors you’ll build stores on time and in budget. 

Reporting to the Director of Retail, you’ll collaborate on a fast-moving and creative marketing team. Working across multiple groups, you’ll develop relationships with Brand, Customer Care, Field Operations, Design, Hardware, and Software. Overseeing multiple projects you’ll be responsible for budget accuracy, and store timelines. You’ll balance the constraints of the retail industry with the demands of a fast-moving organization. 

What You Will Do

  • Analyze retail pipeline and provide strategic recommendations on future sites for development 
  • Oversee the lease negotiation process, keeping all parties involved, solving issues and providing status updates to stakeholders
  • Manage landlord communications and approvals during design approval and construction process
  • Develop project-specific bottoms-up budget and timeline for executive approval
  • Coordinate store design approvals among partners, executives, and vendors
  • Build Tonal stores in a timely and efficient manner with skilled contractors and vendors
  • Lead weekly progress meetings and own progress communication with internal and external partners
  • Visit construction sites to review progress and deliver feedback
  • Gather feedback from store operations and managers on space improvements
  • Consult with event and partnership teams on future opportunities 

Who You Are

  • Minimum 5 years of store expansion and development for a high-end premium brand
  • Experience with managing contractors across the country
  • Knowledge of construction & millwork standards
  • Have excellent retail acumen, scheduling and budgeting skills
  • Proficient in Vectorworks or similar CAD and SketchUp
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, with proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing large construction budgets 
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Fluent in Excel and Google Suite
  • Able to travel up to 25% during the project timeline
