PagerDuty is interviewing, onboarding, and working 100% virtually at this time. As we look to the future, we plan to be ‘distributed by design’, meaning unless your job requirements make it necessary to be in a PagerDuty office, you may choose to work in-office, remotely, or hybrid. We’re focused on inclusion and employee well-being by building a culture that isn’t location specific, and gives equal opportunity to everyone—regardless of where you are working.

Overview

PagerDuty, Inc. (NYSE:PD) is a global leader in digital operations management, serving over 13,800 customers and 700,000 users worldwide, including 60% of the Fortune 100.

Led by CEO Jennifer Tejada, 50% of our board of directors is comprised of women, 45% of our managers are from underrepresented groups, and we are a proud member of the Pledge 1% Movement, committed to donating 1% Equity, 1% Employee time, and 1% Product to accelerate change in our communities.

We’re growing fast and looking for ambitious people who share our values and customer devotion mindset to join our high caliber team.

From how we build our teams to who sits in the boardroom, we hope you can see yourself at PagerDuty.

Why We Need You

Solution Consulting (Presales) is a critical part of the sales engine at PagerDuty - driving revenue and successful customers.  As we continue to grow quickly we need someone to lead PagerDuty’s North America Enterprise Solution Consulting team into the future.  The individual taking on this role will help transform our organization - growing the team, raising the bar on our execution as a sales team, adapting to new product go to market motions and bringing creative ideas to improve our effectiveness and efficiency.  The right person leading this team will have the opportunity to make a huge difference for PagerDuty, our team members and our customers.

How You Contribute to Our Vision

  • You define the vision for our North America Enterprise SC Team, building on our strengths and setting us up for accelerated growth well into the future.
  • You represent the Solution Consulting team, partnering with key executives across a variety of business functions to help drive product direction, customer success and sales results.
  • Recruiting:  You ensure we continue to hire outstanding people who will help us execute where we are today and lead us well into the future.  You hire them quickly!
  • You inspire your team to bring their best every day.
  • Develop our talent in two areas
    • In their current role.  The expectation is that individuals are continuously getting better in their current role, regardless of what they want to do in the future.
    • In their careers:  While individuals own their careers, the person taking on this role will take a genuine interest in individuals’ careers and provide them opportunities to gain skills and experiences that will help position them for the roles they’re looking for down the road, whether they’re in your team or not.
  • Partnering with our sales leaders, you constantly challenge the way things are done, looking for creative solutions to optimize for both effectiveness and efficiency.
  • You have a great handle on the business.  You know the deals in flight, where there’s risk and opportunity in the deals.  You prioritize to ensure we’re focusing our limited bandwidth and resources on what will make the biggest difference.  You manage our most expensive activities, Proofs of Value (POVs), closely with a focus on setting them up for success and communicating the value proven.
  • You remove obstacles to success.
  • You actively sell.  This is not a desk manager role.  Rather, the expectation is that the person taking on this role will be one of the best sellers.  Sales reps / managers and SCs will actively be pulling this individual into deals because of their credibility and ability to move things forward.
  • Real-time coaching:  Where you’re not directly contributing in deals you’ll be providing real-time coaching to Solution Consultants and reps on what went well and what changes will make the team even more successful.

About You

  • You genuinely believe that our people come first.
    • Their success drives the success of both our customers and our company.
    • You have a track record of growing individuals in their current role and into new roles.
  • You have a history of building great and sustainably successful Solution Consulting teams.
  • You’re hands on.  If you need to get your hands dirty and do the same work our individual contributors do, you do it and you use it as an opportunity to show folks what great looks like.
  • You believe in transparency with your team, your customers, your manager and all key stakeholders.
  • You’re a trusted partner to the sales leader of our North America Enterprise business.  You earn a seat at the table for yourself and your organization.
  • You embrace our culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • You have demonstrable technical and ecosystem knowledge.  Experience with SaaS and Cloud technologies as well as selling into technology organizations (IT Operations, Engineering, and/or office of the CTO) are required.

An Insider's view of PagerDuty

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

PagerDuty’s Distributed by Design model provides employees flexibility on where and when they work to allow for the integration of life and career. We’ve evolved our benefits to increase focus on mental wellness, resulting in Dutonian Wellness Days, for all employees to unplug and recharge.

Joe Militello

Chief People Officer

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

I started at PagerDuty two days after graduation, when I was unsure of what I really wanted to do. My six year tenure has resulted in a role change each year, starting as a temporary Recruiting Coordinator to now, as a Majors Account Executive where I enjoy working with some of our most strategic customers.
