Senior Manager, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Atlassian is continuing to hire for all open roles with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.
Do you always consider what could go wrong and what to do about it? Are you full of ideas about how it could create and preserve value for a high growth, innovative company? Do you want to be a true business partner and not just a "check the box" BC/DR manager?
As the Lead of BC/DR program at Atlassian you will work with business and technology managers and subject matter experts to:
- Develop and implement the vision for Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management for the company;
- Manage the BC/DR function and continuously improve and adjust our posture;
- Identify and nurture talent;
- Develop frameworks and methodologies to discover, analyze, assess, address, monitor and report on the relevant risks;
- Drive adoption of those frameworks and methodologies across the company;
- Own the BC/DR training and awareness;
- Oversee the development, implementation, testing and continuous improvement of preparedness, contingency, response and recovery plans;
- Facilitate reporting on tests, findings and mitigation plans;
- Drive and participate in policy and standards development and management activities;
- Monitor new technology and business developments, communicate with customers and peer companies to discover ways to improve our BC/DR posture;
- Advise senior management and executives on techniques for optimizing the BC/DR risk profile of their function;
- Contribute to the risk and compliance awareness activities.
More About You:
- You have done it before in a complex, global environment - leverage existing BC/DR capabilities, with various level of maturity, and work with highly innovative technology and business teams to create a comprehensive, world class BC/DR program. Therefore, the ability to collaborate with and influence various teams is very important, even those who may not be in the same location as you. The world is moving fast and you are comfortable sometimes working with ambiguity and uncertainty - and making sense out of it.
- You may not have all the answers but you understand the challenges associated with a fast moving, ever changing technology landscape (Agile, DevOps, daily deployments, high complexity) as well as new business and operational models (global presence, distributed and ever changing processes, extended and complex supply chain, outsourced critical processes, high growth).
- You have developed and assessed BC and DR plans, oversaw testing and work with the owners to remediate findings. Since we are technology organization, you are comfortable discussing architecture and technology with the engineers and consulting them on the best approach. At the same time, you can advise business leaders on how to approach their business resilience and contingency planning.
- You have established and managed crisis teams and navigated a few crises events. You are comfortable working with ambiguity, inconsistent or incomplete data and have a solid approach to prioritize actions under time constraints.
- You managed experienced subject matter experts, created opportunities for them grow professionally, provided sound advice, when necessary, constructive and timely feedback. You have the ability to spot and nurture talent, and create long lasting, mutually beneficial professional relationships.
- You are comfortable speaking with technical leads and subject matter experts and translate findings into business risks that you communicate to the senior management. Without necessarily being a six-sigma black belt you can analyze processes, without being a business consultant you can analyze business models, discover risks and suggest approaches to managing them (don't worry about six-sigma black belts, business analysts and the rest - we have them and they will be happy to help).
