Director, Product & Marketing Compliance
About the Role
As the Senior Manager of Strategic Operations, you will partner with the Chief Compliance Officer and Chime Product & Marketing leadership team to drive the execution of key priorities. This role will have a material impact on the efficiency and productivity of the Compliance team through streamlining initiatives within and across verticals, tackling special projects, kicking off new initiatives, and communicating cross functional objectives. You will leverage business experience and professional relationships to ensure alignment in Compliance and with the broader Chime business. Through collaboration with team leads, this role will set the rhythms of the business: key operational patterns, overall team alignment, strategic initiatives, and process enhancements to enable effective execution. You will also execute on tactical and strategic projects that don’t fall squarely into one functional group. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a great communicator, and has the ability to influence through respect and trust. You will report to the Chief Compliance Officer.
This job cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Help lead cross functional compliance initiatives with Product & Marketing to ensure alignment with company goals, timelines and emergent priorities
- Apply consumer protection regulations such as UDAAP, EFTA, TILA, FCRA and/or ECOA, including implementing regulations to analysis of new or improved products, services, features, and marketing campaigns
- Monitor internal projects, business performance, and team productivity / morale to ensure teams stay connected and supported
- Facilitate effective decision-making and partner with team leads to buildout the “Playbook” of team operations to ensure consistency and repeatable success for scalability
- Engage Compliance team leads on the intersection of day-to day tasks, the overall team goals, scalability and team vision
- Be responsible for establishing the cadence of team meetings to maintain alignment and progress. (e.g. weekly leadership meetings, monthly goal reviews, quarterly progress check-ins, preparations for board presentations)
- Lead tactical and strategic projects that align to a particular policy, or business challenge
- Be at the vanguard of new directions, owning initiatives in the short term, and handing off in the longer term. (e.g. Seeding new processes across Compliance verticals, designing new systems to support emerging business needs)
- Build and lead a seasoned team to facilitate and further these responsibilities
To thrive in the role, you have
- 15+ years of comparable legal or compliance work history, including experience working with or at the Federal Reserve Board, FDIC, OCC, SEC, DOJ, CFPB or state equivalent regulatory body. Juris Doctor (JD), former regulator, or fintech/professional services advisory experience; Compliance certification such as CRCM.
- A self-starter attitude, motivated by continuously solving hard problems.
- Specific regulatory compliance experience applying consumer protection regulations to deposits, lending, fair and responsible banking or lending, marketing, or financial crimes, including: UDAAP, EFTA, TILA, NACHA, FCRA and/or ECOA, including implementing regulations.
- A strong ability to drive alignment, managing time, and triaging emerging priorities while maintaining progress on Team/ Company Goals.
- An ability to proactively identify gaps in process or team alignment and partner with team leads to drive comprehensive solutions.
- Great communication, able to develop strong relationships, and understand shared perspectives across functional teams, stakeholders, senior executives
- Experience determining risk and controls for new and existing products, services, features, activities, or marketing campaigns.
- A process-oriented mindset with a proven track record for working well across teams and with external partners with a low ego to drive solutions while leading people to get things done from inception through execution; ability to maintain a sense of humor.
