Coinbase has built the world's leading compliant cryptocurrency platform serving over 30 million accounts in more than 100 countries. With multiple successful products, and our vocal advocacy for blockchain technology, we have played a major part in mainstream awareness and adoption of cryptocurrency. We are proud to offer an entire suite of products that are helping build the cryptoeconomy and increase economic freedom around the world.

There are a few things we look for across all hires we make at Coinbase, regardless of role or team. First, we look for signals that a candidate will thrive in a culture like ours, where we default to trust, embrace feedback, disrupt ourselves, and expect sustained high performance because we play as a championship team. Second, we expect all employees to commit to our mission-focused approach to our work. Finally, we seek people with the desire and capacity to build and share expertise in the frontier technologies of crypto and blockchain, in whatever way is most relevant to their role.

Our Employee Experience team owns everything related to our most important asset, our people, from recruiting to engagement to career development.  Our shared goal is to make Coinbase the best place for top talent from all backgrounds to work.

We are looking for an expert in assessing talent to join our team and help build a consistent and coherent model for how we hire and review our employees, as well as ensuring we are using appropriate and defensible methodologies when evaluating, recognizing, rewarding, and promoting employees throughout their time with Coinbase.

We are seeking someone who has expertise in both the theory and practical application of assessments, and who is able to evaluate external assessment tools as well as oversee the building of internal ones and embedding them across talent processes effectively.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Current state assessment analysis: Review the current state of candidate and employee assessments at Coinbase, identifying and prioritizing areas for improvement with the goal of achieving an integrated, cohesive assessment stack from recruiting, to performance evaluation and development
  • Design & implementation: Work with external vendors and internal teams to evaluate options, design, and build out our assessment stack, starting with major employee lifecycle touch-points
  • Change management: Work cross-functionally to ensure buy-in and adoption of our assessment methodology and results
  • Continuous improvement: Evaluate and validate both the findings and efficacy of our assessment suite based on data analysis of the results, and continue to upgrade our assessment processes and tools over time
  • Consulting and communication: Report on key findings from our assessments to the business and executives; advise other teams within and outside HR/Talent who are looking to implement or improve employee or candidate surveys
  • Collaboration and accountability: Manage the various vendors, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders required for evaluation, planning and execution of the above

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 10+ years of experience with interview and/or employee assessment tools and technologies, across both design and validation
  • Graduate degree or equivalent in social sciences (preferably I/O Psychology)
  • Deep knowledge of current assessment tools and trends, as well as practical experience implementing and reviewing those assessments at various stages across an employee lifecycle within companies
  • Ability to translate a business objective into a rigorous analytical project and program; demonstrated track record of prioritizing, defining, developing, and rolling out scalable assessment solutions that address the needs of the business
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high standards
  • Demonstrated statistics expertise; ability to analyze and interpret assessment efficacy and results in e.g. Excel, extract key insights, and communicate them to a non-technical executive audience

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience working in or with large tech companies, high-growth tech startups, and/or fast-paced financial services firms
  • Skilled at manipulating and analyzing data in visualization tools (e.g. Looker) or SQL, R, or Python
