About the Operations Team

Varo is here to change the banking industry. We work hard to create the best personal banking experience possible. We’re accountable for all service channels that we use to communicate, respond, and interact with customers. This includes digital, voice, and social media servicing. We also support all of Varo’s banking features such as deposit accounts, savings accounts, account aggregation, lending products, and many more to follow.

 

About the manager, facilities, development, and events role

As the Manager of Facilities, Development, and Events you will oversee all aspects of opening new physical spaces. This includes, but is not limited to rollout strategy, real estate acquisition, design management, construction oversight, and operations/facilities across new site openings. You will manage policies and procedures, including for OSHA compliance, program controls for cross-departmental operations (e.g. safety, security, and infrastructure), procurement, space planning, office aesthetics, scheduling, and approval of tools to use for maximization of time, security, and resources. You will ensure proper badging, that the offices have adequate inventory of supplies, are clean, and office events are well organized, successful, and on budget in coordination with the People Team, DEI committee, and/or our Games, Occasions, and Activities Team. We care deeply about our office environments, how they look, function, and what they say about our culture and values. This position would currently have one direct report. 

What you'll be doing

  • Oversee the effort to ensure all facilities are clean, secure & organized
  • Lead team for facilities upgrades, remodeling, etc.
  • Oversee facilities-related vendors, maintenance, training, etc. for Varo offices
  • Assist with maintaining and updating necessary policies
  • Oversee mail and shipping processes
  • Manage office/administrative related purchases and supply requests
  • Manager vendor contracts for office equipment
  • Oversee the facility project/task database
  • Working closely with partners, coordinate internal events and celebrations
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including OSHA and CalOSHA. As well as, manage COVID-19 Health & Safety related projects, PPE, cleaning, etc. for all Varo offices
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and inspire. Attract new talent to Varo. Develop a culture of positivity and above-and-beyond performance of the team
  • Drive a culture of being curious and having fun (build morale)
  • Be curious and continue to find ways to learn and improve skill sets
  • Assume responsibility for other duties as required or assigned

Required skills, experiences, and traits

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented within a fast paced environment
  • Strong customer focus and highly resourceful - a “no job is too small” attitude
  • Flexible and able to occasionally work after-hours for emergencies or planned projects
  • Highly collaborative with a great degree of interpersonal savvy and professionalism
  • Able to manage ambiguity with ease
