The Supply Planning Manager will ensure materials required to detect cancer are available at the right time, place, and cost. The Supply Planning Manager performs all aspects of supply planning through execution, including both internal manufactured and externally procured material. This individual will be responsible for developing production/supply plans that consider forecasts, availability of material and manufacturing capacity. The candidate is responsible for identifying and maintaining the appropriate planning parameters in ERP systems to optimize material supply plans. The individual will also be required to provide materials to manufacturing areas based on planned production schedules. Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Supply Chain, this role will develop supply strategies to enable successful product development and commercialization at GRAIL.

You will:

  • Use solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals to forecast and manage inventory levels.
  • Continuously improve and support the GRAIL material forecast and planning model.
  • Provide proactive scheduling signals and daily technical support for the Reagent Manufacturing team.
  • Drive planning process and tools with suppliers and contract manufacturers to manage capacity availability, supply visibility, lead time and exceptions.
  • Provide clear order signals to enable purchase order placement. Ensure right product, right quantity on time and meeting specifications.
  • Partner with Procurement team to perform supply risk assessments, and implement inventory strategies to mitigate impact.
  • Develop material allocation process and rules to manage supply constraints or shortages.
  • Troubleshoot transactional records to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Partner with Finance team to maintain the materials and consumables budget.
  • Manage long and short-term excess and obsolescence plan for materials.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators for Supply Planning.
  • Support development of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool to more effectively forecast, complete purchases, and track supply chain health.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in the material planning process, marshal resources, and drive projects to completion.
  • Manage planning parameters and master data to optimally reflect supply chain capabilities.
  • Participate in weekly S&OP process.
  • Monitor weekly/monthly production plan attainments to ensure continuous product supply to prevent supply interruption to the internal and external customer.
  • Proactively communicate product availability updates to all levels of the Supply Chain and other Lab Operations teams including potential inventory risks.
  • Support analysis and scenario planning exercises to identify potential gaps and opportunities to improve supply plans, and internal delivery mechanisms.

Your background and qualifications will include:

  • B.S required, advanced degree or certification (CSCP, CPIM, CPSM) desirable.
  • 10+ years working experience in supply chain or manufacturing function.
  • 5+ years of production planning, materials planning, and/or related experience.
  • Life Sciences background preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet model building and troubleshooting.
  • Analytical and planning skills associated with optimizing a production schedule.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within cGMP reagent manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of inventory control and electronic MRP systems and intermediate proficiency using Excel and other Microsoft applications.
  • In‐depth knowledge of ERP or MRP software preferred, NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interact well with internal and external partners and/or customers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and have excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills as evidenced by ability to build rapport and credibility quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop ad-hoc tools/processes as needed in a start-up environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, but with a keen awareness of the big picture.
  • Proven experience in life sciences industry desirable, but not required.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/FDA regulated industry is preferred.
